08:23 AM ET 09.27 | The NHL's head office may soon add another former big-name player to its ranks. Having already brought in Brendan Shanahan last year as the league's vice president of hockey and business affairs, two sources have told ESPN.com that Rob Blake could be next. Blake, who retired this past summer after a star-studded career, is slated to meet with league officials this upcoming week to see if there's a fit for him.

Our beloved Gary is kind of revealing himself to be a bit of a Star **** isn't he? He is like that little fat kid at school that gets to hang with the cool kids at recess because he buys them hockey cards.

I was the little skinny kid in those days. Not any more by God, now I'm fat when I don't need to buy hockey cards and I don't give a **** who is cool! Don Fehr is gonna need a whole lot of hockey cards to be the Dwarf's buddy don't you think?

LOL ! Just the mention of "who cares if we lose a season" Donalds name causes Gary to go into the fecal errr i mean fetal position.

I love hockey cards, and I was neither a geek or fat, so what gives???? I've got some nice cards too! Well from 2005 and on, and some favorite rookies from back in the day! Price's rookie card was worth 100$, but if he keeps playing like he has it will be worth 0.50$!!!

Pick it up Price, and keep the puck out already! No need to go AWOL, it is only preseason, and Auld isn't going to be their saving grace!

It pains me Kingerra to think of the Hockey Cards. I had two full shoe boxes of them in the late 70"s.Then i turned into a Teen-worse a teen with a pellet gun-and friends with pellet guns.We used all those cards for target practice. You could line em up in a row on the fence and hours of sniper action would ensue. We had no Flames then so i had all the Habs and all the leafs greats cards. I console myself by remembereing that at least Ken Dryden must have gotten shot in the mouth a few times :-)

Hilarious. I had a lot of baseball cards back in the dinosaur age when I was a kid. I used 'em attached to the spokes of my bike to make it sound like a motorcycle. Kept 'em in really good shape don't you think? I could own a hockey team if I had them now! The burden of great knowledge and wisdom was a weight I never had to bear. Still don't.

I am trying to remember the mathematics- was it 10 cents a pack and ya got 5 cards and the granite gum ?

I think so. I got some every week and we played "flip cards" on the playground at school. I started buying hockey cards for my nephew back in the early eighties and kept it up until about '98 or so. I hope he's still got 'em. Some might be worth a buck or two by now. The cost for cards now is astronomical (and no gum either!). I really do kick myself now and then for not keeping those cards I got as a kid...........I had some Mantles, Ted Williams, Don Larsen etc. All the stars of the 50's and 60's. Sob. Ah well, "if wishes and "buts" were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas."

No Gum ???? That blows ! I know i had a Guy Lafleur rookie card, and a Bobby Clark too.I remember with a quarter i could get a pack of hockey cards,a second hand Turok and Andar comic, and some awesome banana Mo-Jo's. Awesome reminder of the schoolyard gambling racket we called 'flip cards" Slapshot !
