12:26 PM ET 09.27 | Richard Childress Racing is planning to appeal the penalties that were handed down against Clint Bowyer's Loudon-winning car on Wednesday. The team has maintained that they were not in violation of NASCAR's policies and that a hit from another vehicle caused Bowyer's car to fail inspection. "A fair appeal is three men that do understand the sport and understand things that could happen that could change this out of our environment," team owner Richard Childress said. The 150-point penalty placed on Bowyer dropped the driver down from second in points to last.

I don't think it's fair that Denny Hamlin is one of the three appeal board members.

This is a do or die for Clint's team.
They win they still might be out after last week but if they lose the appeal it is all over with last weeks show

NASCAR gives teams a 70-thousandths of an inch tolerance, meaning that the team was 130-thousandths of an inch beyond the measurement in the rulebook

I don't think Bowyer will succeed.

appeal wont succeed on the technical measurements, it wont succeed because NASCAR is an autocracy. Appeal process is merely for show. Ask Carl Long, and others.

Boy, you're quite the risk taker. What's the line on Jooonya winning a race in the next year or so?

No way he wins the appeal. They may reduce the suspensions a week or two, but I wouldn't count on even that. No way they reduce the points. As Pondscum says, NASCAR is an autocracy. They make the rules. You like it or take a hike, case closed. I wouldn't even take 10,000 - 1, svt.

Dear Mr. Rubbin; for a newbie ( 3 weeks ) on here you seem to have achieved the rank of Comment Czar. A few tips, we NEVER pick on family. Also if you feel you have to stick up for svt, you are misguided. He is quite capable of defending himself as I have found out in the past. My comment #8 was directed at svt in jest and actually none of your concern. Lastly, DON'T fan mail in the future. Thank You.

Totally agree. I'll win the points championship before NASCAR will admit they made a mistake.

Wonder how Rex would react if he knew that I considered the Earnhardt kid's father to be a POS, and the son just more hill billy trash. "They" cleaned up "Sr" shortly after he made the big time. Some of us knew him in the early 1970's.

I would agree with you 100%. I'd go even further and have a laugh at the expense of the fans who call Teresa the witch and suggest she should have given control of the organization to Joonyer. It was her business acumen that built DEI. Sr was nothing more than a hillbilly wrecker driver.
