Jimmy Raye should have seen it coming after Mike Singletary's public vote of confidence. This is all on Singletary. As soon as he officially became coach, he fired offensive coordinator Mike Martz, who has a brilliant offensive mind. The move made no sense. NFL teams are run mostly by coordinators. Singletary had never been a coordinator and was known to be weak on the X's and O's. He needed more help than the normal coach. ... The 49ers should be building around Alex Smith, but on Sunday, they couldn't find a way for him to go deep. It was dink-and-dunk and then punt.

This season is probably already lost, but after that, the Niners need to make sweeping changes, starting at the top. Get a real coach, not a motivational speaker.

CAPTION- Lord, see, I'm wearing the actual cross that you were crucified on. Can't you help me?

Loosing Singletary would be a huge mistake.

September 28, 2010  08:24 AM ET

As long as he is stuck with the current QB, he is doomed.

Another example of a #1 pick setting a franchise back years...

I agree. I think the Yorks will let him finish out the season, but unless there's a big turnaround, I wouldn't be surprised if they let Mike go.

......with a front office that will not suck it up, admit the mistake, and move on instead of pointing their finger at everybody else in the organization.

Considering this team had a golden opportunity to win the division and now looks as ridiculous as Arizona, his leash should be short!

If you are an outspoken, high-profile, my-way-or-the-highway type of coach, like Singletary, eventually you, and not your team, becomes the story. If you win, like Rex Ryan and the Jets, you are the toast of the town (and the media); but if you lose, and worse, lose badly, you are crucified.

I'd like to see how this team plays with a little more wide-open style offense. They have a pair of good wideouts, a heckuva TE, and a really good running back - if they played a little looser, a little less conservatively - and with a defense that better start playing like they are supposed to - then maybe they can salvage the season, if not a little better than salvage. Mike's a good coach, a good fit for the team, and a good fit for the area - I think it'd be a shame to let him go (especially as mentioned above, he isn't working with a real good QB).

Hate to see Mike go. He is one of the few class act coaches who does not take crap from his prima-donna players. Cowherd would not win with this roster either though... Strong chins do not throw touchdown passes....

Singletary is an idiot...has no business being a head coach.

Hey fool (quote14) what make you the only guy in the world who can express an opinon? But I know what makes you the ass in the world with a foolish opinon.......You lack confidence, you hid behind the internet and hurl insults (lack of an ability to thereby express yourself otherwise....ignorant) and don't realize by going this route you are showing all of us just how much an idiot one can truly be. You are so ignorant you don't even realize this..........get an intellect.......you are one funny fool.

LOL..i'm a fool? ehhh, sometimes. Ignorant? about many things. Ass? probably often. But thankfully, I'm not you.
Am I the only one that can express an opinion? no. But between the two of us I'm the only one expressing a coherent opinion. Your blow-up doll awaits you.

Finding a college QB who can successfully make the transition to the NFL seems to be a lot easier said than done, lately.

They are looking at starting 0-5, if they do he has to go....
