08:05 AM ET 09.28 | Jamal Mashburn, who says he grew up wanting to carry a suitcase, spoke recently about what he might put in that suitcase ... like an NBA franchise to go with dozens of restaurants in his portfolio. "I've been approached by people to be a part of a group, but at the time it wasn't right. But NBA franchises don't come on the market very often. Personally, I'd like to buy the Detroit Pistons. I think with their fan base and history alone, the Pistons would be a good buy."

I didn't even know Mashburn had that kind of bread to break. I think he would be a solid owner.

He's invested his money wisely so far. Could be another money maker.

Mash should be careful what he wishes for & i'll be the first to admit it's mostly gloom and doom round here! Good luck Mash

QUOTE(#2):

Come on man. Lets leave race out of this.

I think it is a fair statement. It's a fact that that minority owners are needed so why not Masburn? He would be an actual part of the business rather than someone a group included just to satisfy a criteria.

Need a loan, Bro?

it was a joke. the fist guy was talking about minority in the context of owning a part (or 'minority') of they team.

Do they mean briefcase?

Or did he actually want to be traveling around all the time with his suitcase.

I'll throw in 20$ .....too I be an owner too?

Seriously! I mean, training camps open today and THIS is the best T&R can come up with?!?! I think I'd rather see another Melo to the Knicks thread. And what's doing with Iverson these days? Lol.

I didn't know players make enough to buy teams after they die.

"Jamal Mashburn, who says he grew up wanting to carry a suitcase,"

I've never met people who have aspirations to be a bell hop.

who cares? if the guy wants to buy the team, it shouldn't matter if they suck or not.. most teams are sold when they are not doing good.. Damn I hate bandwagons..

I'm black and understood he was talking about minority in terms of percentage of team owned. Everything isn't racial folks!
