Stoops: Bigger worries than Texas

08:22 AM ET 09.28 | When asked Monday morning about Oklahoma-Texas, Bob Stoops chose to focus on a bigger picture. Two Big 12 championships were won in 2006 and '08, years in which the Sooners fell to their Red River rival. "That's emphasized to our team. I'm sure Mack [Brown] does," Stoops said. ... "This game matters because it's right now. Then after that, you've got to win them all to have a chance to be Big 12 champion. So this game doesn't do it. Sometimes the media [says] this is the only game that counts. Well, if you win this game and lose a bunch of others, it doesn't amount to much."

"Stoops: Bigger worries than Texas"

Is that because he watched the UCLA tape?

You can run but you can't hide....

When Mack's little brother Watson Brown was hired at OU in the 90's (while Mack was at UNC)the first question he was asked--Can you beat Texas? and he did. It's kind of a big deal.

Bob's smart to play it down though. He did earn the "big game Bob" moniker in part by dominating Texas early. Not so much lately.

"Well, if you win this game and lose a bunch of others, it doesn't amount to much."

Or, sometimes (like in '08) if you win this game and only lose one other, it doesn't amount to much.

Hey WT*-- dig the new avatar, but what does that chick have strapped to her legs? It looks like goal post padding or something.

Is this a redirect for the Buckeye homers?Hi, What th'. I like your new avatar, but I'm getting eyestrain looking at her. Enlargement, please.

Not sure how to enlarge the image...she might be too distraken for y'all and the TR thread redirect to the Jim Tressel "Live the Vest" may wither and die on the vine.

Rhett Bomar says Hi.

Yeah thanks a lot for that import. Although if he was again a package deal with AD, we'd take him again.

I think he lost that nick name after Boise...

I actually think it was the year prior after the Orange Bowl. The team sort of showed up against Boise at least.

He is wrong, losing to a #22 ranked team would cause a bigger drop in the rankings, than losing to a previously ranked #7 Texas team, so I disagree, if they lose to Texas with a lower ranking, might as well kiss the BCS title game away.

The Sooner Longhorn games have always ment something and always will mean something on both sides of the Red River .
Much of the former and current OSU Football talent arrived in Norman from the Texas side of the Red River
