Leafs to end Kadri's NHL tryout?

08:30 AM ET 09.28 | Nazem Kadri sat out Toronto's Monday night game as a healthy scratch, instead skating with Mike Zigomanis, Danny Richmond and Jay Rosehill. Given his preseason performance, he could be getting used to that company for a while. ... After three poor showings in exhibition games, however, it's unclear whether Kadri will get that opportunity, with Ron Wilson hedging on if he will be worked into the lineup Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators. Even if he does play, it seems all but a certainty Kadri will start the season with the Toronto Marlies as one of the highest drafted players to play for the Leafs' AHL affiliate.

This is one of the few times in modern history that I have sympathy for a Leaf player. Wilson and Burkie have really ****ed this up. I sincerely hope the kid is strong enough in the future to overcome their ineptitude. They thought, incorrectly, that Kadri was their saviour. When he wasn't they blamed him. Wilson and Burkie - "no soup for you!"

And no Cup either.

A season in the AHL will help his development

Nothing wrong with sending him to the Marlies at all. In fact I'm sure that if they were to put him in the line-up there would be just as many critics out there as there has been in the past. No one ever thought of Kadri as a saviour...just a decent prospect...Note PROSPECT.

Wrong...and just for the record, do you even have a team you like or are you just here to be a troll and imagine and flatter yourself that you're funny?

Sorry Wilson you're as much to blame as the gasbag. But I do agree with you about the loose bowels. lol

The fact is not many kids are ready for the NHL at the age of 19. This kid has had way to much heat put on him by Laverne and Shirley. I'm sure Kadri will be lighting up for another team in a year or two.

Good post W2. Can I use Laverne and Shirley? I probably won't though as I liked them. :-)

Agreed but I think he'll be up in the 2nd half of the year

Wilson wouldn't know funny or clever unless they came up and bit him on the arse. He does corner the market on being a douchewad though.

As a twenty year old he can go to the "A"

I do think too much pressure has been put on this kid, just like a lot of others that played well at the WJC, and this has been going on more and more of late due to teams thinking that their youth is ready to take over the team, as Crosby, and A.O did, so why not Kadri right???

There are many great prospects, and AHL players, but to compete at the NHL level, with what they have in T.O is hard. He needs to have some more seasoning, or more vets, or even a bigger star than Kessel in the mix up front to mentor this kid, and get his confidence where it should be, to match and balance out the pressure.

It's not easy to come into a team like The Leafs, or Habs. if you're just a good prospect, as opposed to being the next "Great One", or"Savior" being called such is just too much to take on young shoulders. Kadri is a good player(at this point), but needs a little more to get him to where he'll be a fan favorite, and that's if he does perform, and is not overblown by pressure.

They should look at what's happening to Price in Montreal, and take notes, as he's a first overall GOALIE pick, and WJC star, and AHL star, so go easy on him, and bring him along with confidence. The dividends will be worth it!

Hello all, Kadri can and probably will end up on the Marlies. There is nothing wrong with this contrary to popular BE-LEAF! (You haters will be all over the pun!) This is a young man who needs seasoning in the minors to develop aspects of his game. If this kid ended up making the team I am unsure whether or not he would have had the impact of say a Crosby or Ovechkin. I'm going to say probably not. Anyway, the point here is that talented players can and will develop at different times. Sometimes we are to quick to write guys off because they can't jump in and play right away, look at the Habs, they're ready to burn Price at the stake for crying out loud. Let kids develop and allow them the time to get their feet beneath them so that when they are ready they can contribute the way they are expected to.

AHHHHHH 4 minutes to late!

This kid better get used to the pressure, because it aint gonna get any easier. The Leafs are going to be looking to first round picks (when they have them) as if theye're the next coming. This franchise hasn't had anything to feel good about in decades, so man-up Kadri...Ontario needs you.
