Knicks's Russian import a pleasant surprise

08:41 AM ET 09.29 | Eddy Curry's strained hamstring will keep him on the sidelines for a month, at least. The Knicks are talking as if they have moved on to another mysterious big-man project: 7-foot-1 Russian Timofey Mozgov. Coach Mike D'Antoni, in fact, labeled the 25-year-old center one of the most pleasant surprises of training camp. "We were hoping, but we just didn't know," D'Antoni said of the team's attitude when they signed Mozgov. ... The Knicks signed Mozgov, who has played professionally in Russia for six seasons, as a free agent in July. A month later, it began looking like a pretty good move when Mozgov averaged 12 points for Russia during the World Championships.

That was the payback for that stupid giant poster they put up. The kid can play. He's quick and blocks shots. I suspect he'd start over Turiaf before we know it. As for Eddy he makes me ashamed of Knicks management. Only in New York will a player come into the season out of shape for three years and still get paid religiously. It's like nobody cares. If the lawyers can't find a provision in the law they can use to send Curry home then heck send the lawyers home too. Our civilization can't be this bad....

All the haters will have a field day with this one......When none of us,not me, you or anyone has actually seen him play

I watched all the games he played in the FIBA tournament, watched him practice with the team lastnight and we'll see him on play against Armani Jeans on Sunday. The guy is good to go. Amare is nasty though... he threw down some wicked dunks as well. We've definitely improved this year and if that's not enough to get us in the playoffs we'll need a change of management regime.

Don't you have to prove yourself first before being called a "hater". I thought sports was about proving yourself and shutting critics up thats what makes sports more enjoyable to follow.

Some people are just sensitive when it comes to their teams like they are married to them. I can understand Lost/Stan being hurt because he was making big plans for him and his boyfriend to come and live with him. But then again he actually thought he had a chance with him so technically it was his fault for the false high hopes.
