09:17 AM ET 09.29 | Donovan McNabb believes fans in Philly, not typically known for their graciousness, will cheer for his Sunday return to Lincoln Financial Field, at least "until the whistle blows and the game starts," he said. "Honestly, I think I will be more cheered," McNabb said Tuesday on his weekly radio show on ESPN-980 in Washington. "No matter what the situation is, right now I'm with a different team and it's a rival and it wasn't my choice. We had a successful 11 years. We had a lot of exciting plays and obviously some down times, but there were more exciting things in 11 years." McNabb also reiterated that "I wasn't the one looking to get out."

If McNabb and the Redskins play like they did last week against the Rams, of course the Philly crowd will cheer him.

Indeed. They got pimp slapped by a rookie QB.

That rookie looks pretty good.

As for the warm reception he is expecting, has he forgotten where he played for all those years? Christ, even Santa gets batteries tossed at him in Philly.

I believe that was years ago...

... Philly fans have a hard core reputation, but, I haven't seen anything atypical.

They cheer when it's good for the home team and boo when things are bad for the home folks.

The intensity may be higher... but they know what they want.

We got used to mcStinks expectations many years ago--- this Rube's legacy: "Couldn't win the important games"---

When you are a loser--- might as well go big and be a Donnie-BOY LOSER!!!

Especially since the Eagles fans believe they can make some noise this year. No D Mac, this is a competitive situation and the fans will probably be luke warm at best, but I would expect they try to rattle him to give their team a psychological advantage. This will be a good game, I hope that Vick doesn't get caught up in the idea of playing against McNabb and cost the birds the game. If he (Vick) stays focused on the overall team effort and spreads the ball around, Eagles by10.

A warm reception? Those fans throw rocks at Santa Claus. Please!

Dude! They threw batteries at Santa and booed him! That is well beyond hard core. Good luck with that reception Donovan.

Mr. Bunker expects beers in Philly:)

September 29, 2010  10:21 AM ET

They might cheer him during warmups, but at kickoff the batteries start flying.

September 29, 2010  10:31 AM ET

these are the same people who boo'ed kobe bryant...philly fans are classless across the board...ok i take that back. cant really group everyone like that...but philly has the most fans making news for negative acts....whats up with that. from football...to bball...to baseball ..

The batteries were tossed at JD Drew, not Santa... Santa only got booed (40 years ago) because the idiot wearing the suit was hammered drunk and acting like it...

Brian Dawkins got a warm welcome last year, although the fans had unconditional love for him when he played in Philly. I think Donovan will get a warm welcome, right up until he throws his first completion...

September 29, 2010  10:35 AM ET

I think they will cheer McNabb...if he gets injured.

You Guys always get everything so misplaced. It's the Washington Redskins vs. the Philadelphia Eagles!!! Nothing more nothing less! Let's get it on! Go skins!

The Santa Claus story is so old lol...

... do you even know when that occurred?

I do remember the Michael Irvin injury.

Besides, do you believe that all fans in a certain stadium behave in the same manner?

Heck, you're talking about a handful of knuckleheads in comparison to the total amount of people in a crowd.

If Philly has 50,000 fans and 5,000 act crazy, that's 10%.

The other 90% are just watching the game and enjoying themselves.

Exactly...

... people just spread stuff around that they THINK they've read or heard.

The Philadelphia fans stuff is so exaggerated, and untrue.

Exceptions always make the rule to ridicule Philly fans. You have that moron barf on that father and daughter at the Mets game, and there's ammo for a generation.
