Van Gundy's wardrobe mocked by NBA?

08:47 AM ET 10.01 | Rather than being insulted by a rule change that seems aimed across his bow -- that coaches will no longer be allowed to wear mock turtlenecks on the sidelines -- Stan Van Gundy would like to be remembered by it. "I want them to at least name the rule after me," [Van Gundy] said. "Somebody has their Bird rights. Larry Bird got that rule named after him. I want it to be the Van Gundy Rule." ... "I don't like that," Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "I really like Stan's style. I thought Stan really set the bar for the dress code. I think he should stay with that. I think it's nice."

Set the bar for the dress code? The truth is there wasn't a button down that could contain his neck ...

So, can he wear a *real* turtleneck instead?

Or how about a dickey?

If I were Van Gundy I would coach all season in a tuxedo this year.

Really Stern? With a lock-out just about imminent after this season this is what the NBA is concerned about? Van Stumpy could wear high heels, fish-nets and a Pink Tutu and the only outcome would be opposing players asking him out....

I was thinking the same thing except not necessary the lockout. Out of all of the things the NBA can think of to make it better, this is it?

I never thought once about Van Gundy's attire. Does anyone besides Stern even care what the coaches wear?

If you give Stern and the NBA an inch they take a mile. Let's focus on improving the game and not worry about the sideline fashions. Who looks at what the coaches are wearing anyways?

If the NBA insists on implementing a dress code, start with Craig Sager......

The NBA has thugs playing the game and can't control them and their worried about coaches dress code? Crazy!

Or the Knick's announcer Walt "Clyde" Frazier - Love the guy but his wardrobe is a flashback to the 70's - Fully expect Pam Grier to pop out next to him dress like her character in Foxy Brown.

But yeah Craig Sager's outfits are an eyesore.

Clyde is slicker than owl **** and 3 times as nasty ... my man has style (diggin the chops too!)

And it looks like Van Gundy is ordering a couple of dogs during a timeout ...
