One day after Duke was reprimanded by the ACC for violating league policy by giving Rutgers the game tape from the Maryland-Wake Forest game, Terps coach Ralph Friedgen accused the Knights of intentionally trying to injure starting quarterback Jordan Steffy during the game. Friedgen, at his weekly press conference yesterday, said "(Rutgers) went after him (Steffy). They were trying to take him out of the game." Rutgers coach Greg Schiano declined to comment on Friedgen's accusation.

Open the pod bay door, HAL.

October 3, 2007  09:14 AM ET

I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave.

October 3, 2007  09:29 AM ET

Wow. Here's these dudes again. Wild.

October 3, 2007  09:30 AM ET

Ralf is concerned about dirty play? He should be more concerned that he cannot sit up without breaking a sweat.

DAVE and HAL

Dirty? These skirts don't know the meaning of dirty play. I used to keep a little vial of acid in my jock...when I would steal home, I'd open that sumbitch up and nail the catcher. That's how you win ballgames!

October 3, 2007  10:32 AM ET

Is it me or is Rutgers trying to become the Patriots of College Football for all the wrong reasons. First it was the tape from the Duke assistant and now it's allegations of dirty play. Wow!

October 3, 2007  10:51 AM ET

"Wow!"

Poignancy is so stirring.

October 3, 2007  10:52 AM ET

Isn't the job of the defense? Go after the QB? I read somewhere LSU's defensive cordinatior was proud that his team didn't let 3 starting QB's finish the game this season..

October 3, 2007  10:52 AM ET

That will earn ya a helmet sticker too

October 3, 2007  11:11 AM ET

I got nothing more to say than Wow! Sorry, I couldn't be deeper for you.

October 3, 2007  11:14 AM ET

No troubles, J. I was merely trying to bring out your inner Z.

October 3, 2007  02:02 PM ET

No problem.

October 3, 2007  03:41 PM ET

I guess they needed a sound byte before the Tech game...

October 3, 2007  06:06 PM ET

The loss to Maryland was the beginning of a .500 season at best for Rutgers. International Bowl... here come the Knights.

October 3, 2007  06:26 PM ET

I am sick of this anti-RU bashing by the media. It was not a helmet-to helmet hit. He just hit the QB. Maryland won that game BECAUSE Steffy got hurt, not despite it.

October 3, 2007  07:41 PM ET

damnit , now everyone who knew Rutgers was over-rated to begin with have something to lean on

October 3, 2007  08:43 PM ET

I have always heard that the defense tries to hit the QB so hard it does knock him from the game. The key thing is how it is done. If you are playing good clean football legally and are trying to hit a guy so hard it knocks him from the game, thats fine. If you are using illegal hits to do it, there is a problem. I know coaches tell the defense to hit the QB. If you don't knock him from the game, at least he'll remember what happened and that may affect him later in the game, or even the next time those teams play.

It's football. If you play QB, you're GOING to get hit. It kinda comes with the position. Rub some dirt on it and get back in the game Nancy.
