Randy Shannon indicated receiver Sam Shields, benched last week, likely will play against North Carolina, but isn't a starter, for now. ''I'm not going to accept for a guy to not compete and just rely on athletic ability,'' Shannon said. ``The guy has got to be held accountable for everything he does on and off the field.''

This "Leader of Men" and "Strong Role Model" has fathered a litter of kids with like 4 different women..I'm sure someone will call me a hater and come up with the EXACT number of illegtimate kids he has..so I'll wait here.

What's wrong with sewing wild oats?

Hey THE TRUTH - since you brought it up you should be the one to come up the exact number. "Like" 4 different women? You can do better than that. Anyway, Martin Luther King and Ghandi had a litter of kids with "like" many diffferent women. Does that make their messages any less meaningful? Nobody is perfect and Shannon is just trying to keep these kids out of trouble. The fact that he may have children out of wedlock has nothing to will his ability to be a leader to these kids. He dragged himself out of Liberty City and his father was murdered when he was 3. Give the guy a break.

Receiver has been an issue for the Canes for the last couple of seasons. Like Dolphins13 alludes too Shannon's personal life has nothing, but yet everything to do with Sam Shields. Shannon came from Liberty City just like a bunch of these Canes and he is going to do his best to make sure these kids do not fall into the traps offered by the hoods of Miami.

TRUTH I think you hurt the little miami fans feelings....BOOOOWHOOOO, baby...

October 3, 2007  10:50 AM ET

I hear that Travis Henry is his role-model.

October 3, 2007  10:50 AM ET

I'm not a Canes fan, but I see why Shannon is doing what he is doing.

October 3, 2007  10:53 AM ET

That's a comfort to us all.

Cain fans are a notoriously thin skinned bunch....some time in a Red Chinese prison would give 'em some perspective.

And by the way, there, J. HOVA:

Don't lump me with those reprobates you mention above.

You wound me with such lurid associations.
