Concussion may help Devils' cap woes

09:55 AM ET 10.02 | Literally, the Devils can't afford any more injuries. It's ironic, because the concussion Bryce Salvador suffered may allow them to open the season with their horde of veterans intact. If the Devils put Bryce Salvador and Anssi Salmela on long-term injured reserve, they can barely satisfy the Oct. 6 salary cap by using their low-paid prospects on a minimum roster of 20 healthy bodies. But if the Devils lose anyone for a one-game bruise or even a cold, they would be obliged to call up a replacement and clear out at least $1 million cap space by waiving or trading one of their higher-priced veterans, to cover roster spots of the short-term injured player and the departing veteran.

Why don't these journalists do better research to put a player on the long term injury list (they have to be on the roster during the season therefore they will have to be on for opening day hence there is still a cap problem and they will have to expose players in the waiver draft.Be interesting to see if one of the teams far below the cap (like say Colorado) becomes a player in the waiver draft ass they only have to apply half of the salary towards the cap

We don't cut the posters any when we point out their errors usually with a smart-a-ss comment or sarcasm .These idiots though have gone to school for this profession and (should) know better .Some of us posters can't write complete sentences and don't know an adjective from a noun .The idiots who write these stories do so no slack on the noose.
