Texas A&M officials have examined Dennis Franchione's contract to determine if he violated the terms of his deal, CBSSports.com has learned. Franchione is under fire after the Friday revelation that he operated a secret website for three years. A certain segment of powerful Texas A&M officials "want him out" according to a source but there is no immediate move to fire the coach. The examination of the contract seems to be an indication of Franchione's deteriorating relationship with his superiors. The website scandal combined with a blowout loss to Miami this season, a 29-24 record in 4 1/2 seasons and a $2 million salary, has led to the dissatisfaction. The contract runs through 2013.

Ain't Karma a****?

A&M used to be good, but now they are joke of a team. He was supposed to bring a high powered offense but can't seem to recruit anyone to run it. Their defense is horrible; just ask Miami. Every day he spends leading that team he makes them look more like a conference usa team. In the past Texas had always had 2 state teams that could dominate. Now it is 1. ( if even )

If he won more games, then the school would not care at all. They were just looking for a reason to replace him, think they found it. Of course it has nothing to do with winning, it is all about the integrity of the school.

The "secret website" is a website that fairly wealthy boosters could get into and find out inforation (I believe Fran called it his VIP connection). The information revealed was extremely revealing like, who was injured ( and not known by newspapers or even their broadcast crew), what certain plays were going to be run in particular situations, what players would be put in to run those particuar situations. The extremely sleezy part about all of this is that Fran made all members of the "vip connection' who paid 1,200 per year for access, required them to sign a contract saying that they would not reveal any of the information and to deny that the newsletter even existed. The AD didn't even know about it. You know for a fact that some of these guys took some of this information and used it to place their bets when Vegas wasn't getting this information so this is beyond sleezy. Considering his sleeze you would think that he would stil be coaching at Alabama instead of moving to A&M.........those two types of sleeze should be together still.

Aggies will rejoice upon his departure.

here is a link for the actuall emails that were sent out.......the info is not very revealing unlike some of you think, its just VIP persons wanting to stay in the loop a little bit more than the avg. joe. no harm

And they say Saban lied just before he bolted for Alabama... Coach Fran was telling the parents of Bama players "Dont worry, I will be here next season and your son will be in good hands" 36 hours before he's walking down the red carpet at a College Station airport. He was so spineless that he had his assistant coaches break the news to the Alabama football team.

12th man, you must not be reading the same e-mails I read.

Specifically, "Subject: Ouch...undesirable news

Obviously, highly highly confidential, because we're not even going to inform our radio announcers beforehand:

We're likely to take on Baylor's new "Air Raid" passing attack (Texas Tech copycat) without the services of Brock Newton at one safety and Red Bryant at one defensive tackle. Yemi Babalola might also miss yet another game, other than emergency service in a jam. "

Hmm, that sounds like information which would be valuable to a gambler. I went to UT and even I want Fran to be fired because the aggies are a pathetic shell of their former selves, especially on defense. He will be gone after this season.

Thank goodness A&M got rid of RC. They've done so well since he was given the boot.

October 5, 2007  07:37 AM ET

It does not matter who the coach is at A&M, they are the greatest team in the history of ALL sports. They cannot be beaten. They will rule college football for all time just like they did in the 90's - UNBEATABLE!!! If you dare doubt the supremacy of the Aggies, 12th MAN is VERY wise and he will set you straight!!!
