White Sox may not want Jenks return

08:37 AM ET 10.04 | Coming off a season during which he earned a reported $7.5 million, Bobby Jenks may be looking at a raise, though perhaps not with Chicago. As an arbitration-eligible closer, the White Sox have control over Jenks going into the 2011 season. General manager Ken Williams' comments on Sunday, though, made Jenks' return seem less likely and put the right-hander on the list of possible non-tender candidates. "That's something we have to evaluate strongly because I've been disappointed on a number of levels," Williams said. "And there are certain things that I'm not going to talk about right now."

So who is going to close for the Sox if Jenks is gone?

Chris Sale. Jenks is awful and should not be on the team next year.

Papelbon?

might not be a bad straight up trade. new surroundings for both could be helpful.

Papelbon is a lot better than Jenks. WSox would probably have to include more than just Jenks for that to happen.

not after the year papelbon has had...his value has dropped a lot. its no guarantee that he can recover. i agree with norman...could be a nice equal swap

I can see the change of scenery helping both. However, Jenks is horribly prone to breaking down due to his fitness level. He just isn't good.

JJ Putz will more than likely be the closer if they do make a change. They are not going to waste Sale, a number one draft pick, as a closer. They definetly want this kid to be a starter someday, maybe next year that is what he will be doing in the minors.

The Mets could use a closer like Jenks.

Among others. But yeah K-Rod is out.

How would Sale be wasted? Closing is essential.

Putz proved he couldn't close this year/

the braves got in the post-season by a little luck, just to prolong cox agony because we know very well that this team has too many players on the injury list!

the yankees refuse to face the rangers, it could be that they do have the feeling about cliff lee blow the yankees away? or they just do as a precaution and nothing else?

I honestly don't know how they got in with so many in their rotation and lineup out for the season with injuries. But once you're in, you've got a shot. Maybe a 1988 Dodgers type of miracle?

i always like braves ever since back on the 90's with those wonderful pitching rotation, as maddux, glavine, smoltz, merker, mike stanton, and leo mazzone as a pitching coach, i just wish that they would have more talent on the hitting side, but then again i know where they are as a team, wish them well regardless the outcome, they still my team who i will support every season every game!!
