08:44 AM ET 10.04 | Joe Girardi is in no hurry to lay down his cards. He was asked Sunday about the rotation and the final spots on the roster for the division series against the Twins and replied, "We know that Derek Jeter is going to be on the roster." Stay tuned. Girardi will meet with GM Brian Cashman and Yankees brass Monday in New York to work out final details. ... The Yanks may finalize the expected three-man playoff rotation of CC Sabathia, Andy Pettitte and Phil Hughes. In that scenario, Sabathia would pitch a Game 4 on three days' rest and Pettitte would go on regular rest in Game 5.

whatever...I think Girardi is gone after this season..win or lose. he has made some horrible managerial decisions in the past month.

Definitely agree there ... for someone who was brought in because of how he handles pitchers, he's left me scratching my head more than a few times with how he has managed the bullpen ...

the way they have been pitching I would prefer Hughes in game 2 & 5, I know Andy is a big game pitcher, but he has been injured and looked a little rusty. Plus Hughes has been better on the road, he has given up most of his HR's in Yankee Stadium

I think Girardi managed this last 2 weeks, to play the Twins and avoid Cliff Lee in a short series

I'm a fan of Pettitte but his rep as a big game pitcher is a bit exagerated. He has benefited from essentially being a 3 or 4 and as such faced the other team's 3 or 4. There are a slew of 1 or 2's over the past 15 years with worse post season win loss records and far better pitching lines.

Hell, I'd throw AJ #2 and just have the bullpen ready. If anything it shows less panic.

I might wait till I get home before using AJ. Seems do do a lot better at the Stdium.

#2 or #3, but I say let him pitch. its not like the other guys are a better alterative. No one has really stepped up.

They had better not lose any games that CC starts, or they will be screwed..........

the offense is going to have to step it up big time...and that may be a bigger issue than the pitching. in Sept they didn't hit at all.

would be a good time for Arod to start earning some of his 33 million.............

I can't recall Petite getting shallacked very often...

... his "best" performance probably being game versus Atlanta during 1996 World Series (believe game 5).

If I'm not mistaken, it was versus John Smoltz and Petite had to be on because Smoltz sure was... think it end 1-0.

He got slapped around in Game 1 in 96 and Game 6 in Arizona. Can't think of any others off the top of my head.

History has shown that regular season games at the end of season don't equate to playoff success.

I remember one year the Yankees lost their last 7 or 8 games heading into the post season, media and fans in a "panic".

Did it matter? Not at all. Yankees went on to win the World Series.

May have been in 2000.

Rodriguez has certainly earned his money over the years during the regular season...

... but, the playoffs have never been his strong suit.

no one will ever "earn" that much money, but Arod was one of the few that hit down the stretch.

It depends on how much a player brings to a team...

... very conceivablel that a player DOES earn that money.

Do owners earn their revenues?
