Big Ben's arm can help Mendenhall, too

08:51 AM ET 10.06 | In addition to the receiving corps, Rashard Mendenhall may stand to benefit from the return of Ben Roethlisberger. Indeed, Mendenhall is second in the NFL in rushing (411 yards), and he is averaging a robust 4.6 yards a carry -- this despite the fact that the Steelers' passing game ranks 31st out of 32 teams. But there is no disputing that running room for the third-year back should be more plentiful assuming Roethlisberger quickly shakes off the rust from his four-week layoff and again plays like one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL.

we'll see...

The way so many teams seem to be playing inconsistently and at a meiocre level this year, the Steelers could be pretty dominant from here on out. It's strange, but the top teams all seem to be in the AFC so far.

Now Pit will go 1-3 in next 4 games.

Cleveland, Miami, New Orleans, Cincinatti.

No, I think they'll do better than 1-3.

Just keep Goodell away from him.

Looks more like 3-1 to me... those fish blow!

Ben will back those linebackers up a little. Teams have been playing 8 in the box all year. I can't wait to see a confident Mendenhall run with a little room to go with it. Nothing like hard nose defense and an offense moving up and down the field. It should be fun to watch.

You may very well be right. Good looking ball player quick to the hole and seems to have real good field vision to make the cuts.

and he's developing in the pass catching and blitz pickup....I think the rookie center (pouncey) really helps him....I'm excited to see the team all together and healthy .....

He's on track to get 360 carries this year. Only Barry Foster has had more as a Steeler when her carried it 390 times. Hopefully Redman will get more work to keep Mendenhall fresh. Steelers will need him in the playoffs.

Better hope they keep mendenhall fresh. He hasn't completed a full season yet. Nagging injuries have kept us from seeing his full potential.

Ben's not a great qb, he has issues.

That's a very vague description... Everyone has issues. How is he not a great quarterback?

he's got a little farve (big play vs big mistake) with a little elway in him....
Is he "great"? he's a work in progress, but he ascending....they guy can throw it
as far as issues go...everyone has um, some are greater than other, but they're there nonetheless....
