08:26 AM ET 10.07 | A Miami-Florida State matchup is freighted with all sorts of scene-setting drama. It's a heated football rivalry that all players obviously look forward to becoming a part of when they commit to one of the two schools. ... That rivalry will be renewed on Saturday when Florida State travels to Dolphin Stadium to take on the hated Hurricanes. But in Miami, they're ready for a beat down. Just ask reserve linebacker Jordan Futch, who said the following according to the Palm Beach Post: "This is that one game every UM football player came here for -- to beat the hell out of Florida State." That's one way to add fuel to the fire. One can assume that the quote is now plastered over the locker room at Florida State.

Some players may need help reading the quotes.

Sheesh, that's not a very positive attitude.

So this is the best the Canes can do? have their backup LBs doing their smack talk? and it's not even all that smacky...

October 7, 2010  09:05 AM ET

He has been on the field for all of five plays this season. He won't have to back it up so he is running his mouth why???

October 7, 2010  09:11 AM ET

Geez, I guess SVT and EWO are both sleeping in today. A good Noles-Canes thread, and nobody here repping either team.

That's smack talk?

October 7, 2010  09:33 AM ET

Those two teams are all talk recently. I'm surprised it's not the Noles' Greg Reid shooting his mouth off.

Unlike your 2nd string linebacker, at least that "midget" will be on the feild to back up his words.

BTW, the 'Canes may ridicule his size, but what they WON'T do is throw at him or punt to him.

They don't like to be called midgets. They prefer the term "little people".

Mr. Reid prefers "Best punt return man in the nation." :)
