Rangers want more than fights from Boogaard

08:39 AM ET 10.07 | Derek Boogaard may be asked to do more with his hands this season than drop the gloves. What he would like to do is get more involved in the game, and that fits into [John] Tortorella's plans. "I'm not sure how he was treated in Minnesota -- if he was just told to go out and fight -- that's not what we're looking for here," said the coach. "He'll have his opportunities to do that, but we also want to try to help him become a better player and help us by adding some minutes to our lineup."

With 2 goals in 255 games, Torts is smoking some serious doobage if he think the Boogeyman is going to do anything other than fight.

Absolutely LGP. Unfortunately, I don't get Versus from my subscriber, so I will try and find it on the internet. What a great way to open the building though. Sid....first goal. Mike Rupp.....first beatdown on a Flyer.
Hopefully I can make it to the 'Burgh this season and check out the new barn.

I want him to fight more. When do the Rangers play the Canucks this year? I want to see this Peters guy and the Boogeyman dance.
My money is on Boog.

You don't get Versus? Ouch! How about a local pub or something? Looking forward to the new defense to go in the new bldg...The Igloo was such a dump. I hear this place is badass!
I got tickets for the Dec 20th game against the Yotes. Taking my girly and I can't wait!!

But in the end, the Flyers rain on the Pens parade and win the game 4-3 :)

truthfully, what does anyone expect Torterella to say?
"Well, as long as he whups someone's **** every night, he will almost be worth another one of Sather's idiotic, bloated contracts?

Here's the thing about new buildings. The Spectrum was one of the best places to watch a hockey game. Even tho it was like going into some dive bar, the atmosphere was incredible. The Wells Fargo Center, as it's called now, is a beautiful building, but a bit sterile. My dad had tix at the Spectrum 3 rows up on the second level. In the new building, his tix were transferred to the first row of the second level but it felt like being in the third level of the Spectrum. The WFC is a fine modern arena, but I do miss the Spectrum. Not trying to be negative, I'm sure your new building will be terrific and you'll enjoy games there. I just hope the uniqueness of the Igloo is carried over in some way.

I've only seen the new place in pictures and from the outside. It looks like it's going to be world-class! As for the game tonight...............as a Caps fan I'm neutral (or maybe gutless?) and I feel very strongly both ways! Seriously, good luck to both teams tonight, I'm just rooting for no injuries and for it to be the expected good game. I'll be watching on Versus.
