08:39 AM ET 10.08 | Jean-Sebastien Giguere is on pace to win 82 games this season, which while not likely might actually satisfy Maple Leafs fans. Giguere's teammates, including game winning goal scorer Clarke MacArthur, had nothing but praise for their netminder afterwards. "He made a couple unbelievable saves," MacArthur said. ... MacArthur added that, since joining the Leafs in the summer, more than anything he's noticed Giguere's work ethic. "He's always early in, working hard in practice," he said. "He's getting mad if pucks go by him. I mean he's a competitor. He's the kind of guy you want to build teams around and he makes you want to fight for him.

Why yes he was.

I do have to acknoweledge Giggy has his name on the Cup

Giguere is 33. I doubt the Leafs would call him a franchise goalie thats what the monsters job is spose to be. If he signed 3 years at say 3 a year then maybe he stays just in case.

I feel your pain HC. I guess if To***to is "on pace" for 82-0 your Flames are 0-82 with zero goals scored.

It's Blue and White disease season again...

I know. WTF? It's everywhere this morning. Bob in Philly is the new goaltender. Giguere is going to lead the Leafs to the Cup, and if you were listening to callers on radio in the Burgh, the Pens are in real trouble.

Bwhahahahahaha. It's one game, people. One GAME!!!

geez - I thought Pens played decent - 1 real bad turnover on the PP, but overall... I mean the Pens came right back up the ice and scored.
btw - I thought Shero's moves to replace Gonchar on D was the way to go

BBBJ,

They played more than decent considering Staal is out, PPK is lacking without him, PP needs tweaked w/o Gonchar, they are feeling each other out considering all the different parts. It's gonna take a little bit for the Pens to become fully adjusted to the "new parts/new guys."

Pens fans this morning are feeling a little bitter. They are just a tad "stung," by the fact the Flyers ruined their opening day party. I was bummed, but I rather move on, and wait to ruin the Flyers playoff party. ;)

October 8, 2010  10:15 AM ET

The Pens fans that call the radio shows are hilarious. When they lose they want Fleury gone, when they are winning they want Staal traded, and when Crosby is out performing Malkin they want Malkin sent to the Kings in a mega deal.

I've seen the Leafs look worse.

Or was it that I've seen the Habs look better?

Either or.

It's preseasonitis. A team does real well in the preseason and all of a sudden they are crowned the favorites. Same thing with the first week of the season. In a month, when things start to shake out, all will be much clearer in terms of who is going to do well and who should be worried.

Except for the Pens. They better start panicing (sp?) now! ;)

Yep, we're pooping rocks in the Burgh this a.m. ;)

(Note sarcasm).

After his trials and tribulations, I'd like to see Giguere make it all the way back. Not talking Cup mind you, just being his team's undisputed #1 goalie.
