11:12 AM ET 10.10 | Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy is confident the Crimson Tide will bounce back from its first loss since a 31-17 defeat to Utah in the Sugar Bowl at the end of the 2008 season. How does he make sure of this? "I'm a leader on this team," he said. "I'm as disappointed as anybody, but I see what this team is capable of. This team is capable of amazing, amazing things. We can still do everything we want to do." Then he started to get a little stirred up. "Quite frankly, we have to commit ourselves," McElroy said. "Everybody. Each individual, every coach, every member of the administration has to commit himself to this team and believe in this team, because we are a great team. For everyone who doubts what we can accomplish, just look at when we were playing well."

Good to see that he's coping with his losing streak in a mature manner.

McElroy stated: "For everyone who doubts what we can accomplish, just look at when we were playing well."
Hell, that can also be said about Ohio State, Oregon, Nebraska, TCU, Boise State, Michigan State, Auburn, LSU and so on!!!!

They aren't anywhere near dead with regard to the end of the year. This is turning into a weird year though - I heard someone describing Les Myles as a genius this AM - this has to be an end-of-days thing.

I agree that, it's not over, until it's over, but if Ohio State, Oregon, Nebraska, TCU and Boise State win out, then there will be no way in hell, that Bama plays in the flawed BCS Championship game, period!!

If the term "lucky as hell" is now associated with "genius", then I believe it.
Not to give the impression of sour grapes on our loss, we did not deserve to win that game -- but a fake field goal with a no-look, over-the shoulder toss that could've been called either forward or lateral but was ruled lateral, that bounced straight up into the kicker's hands for a first-down by a yard? Nobody but Les can get that kind of thing.

He is lucky and he'll need it with Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas still to come. Not to mention, Ole Miss.

You're right. One other thing about current 1 loss teams and the SEC is how real is South Carolina and what happens for them if the second half breaks their way.

Agree with you OldTimer; That Alabama should not be in the National Championship game; if "Ohio State, Oregon, Nebraska, TCU and Boise State win out".
But if the Buckeyes, Ducks, Huskers and Sooners were to be defeated atleast once-- Leaving the BSU Broncos and TCU Horn-Frongs as the only two undefeated teams-- should BSU and TCU both play in the National Championship game? Just asking...
Stranger things havve happen-- Like two-loss LSU playing in the 2008 Championship game.

Another possible fly in the undefeated ointment is Utah. They're at 10 now and they have nothing on the schedule tougher than Air Force.

HCP, yes IMO, I would say that an undefeated TCU and Boise State should play in the NC game, if they are the only ones without a loss..
