Phillips' seat getting hotter in Dallas

08:07 AM ET 10.11 | Usually a fixture in postgame festivities, Jerry Jones was conspicuous by his absence in the locker room after Sunday's 34-27 loss. We can only surmise he didn't want to make his thoughts public until he gave himself 24 hours to calm down. Frankly, that was probably the smart move. If Phillips actually raised his voice in the locker room after the game, no telling what the owner might have said. This much is clear: The prospect of the Cowboys having a new coach next season gets more realistic after every loss. Jerry didn't spend more than $100 million in salaries and signing and reporting bonuses to miss the playoffs.

Jean Jacques Taylor summed this disaster up perfectly this morning in the paper at the end of the above article;
"It's time for many of you to start dealing in reality instead of what you want reality to be. These Cowboys are a mess, and there's no reason to believe it will get better any time soon.
It never does for bad teams."

Wade Phillips is one of the best coaches in the league....
I don't know why he's criticized so much, and so often....
He should be Cowboy Coach For Life!!!

Take heart, all NFC team fans. It looks like 9-7 will get any team in the play offs, and maybe even a repeat of 2006 when the Giants made the post season with an 8-8 record. If there is an elite team in the NFC, then they have had a five week bye. Haven't seen one yet.

can you really say that there is one in the afc? there really isn't a team that hasn't looked "unbeatable" (which isn't the same thing as unbeaten).

it does , but i don't think the season tix holders would agree that the money they spend is worth the losses - even with the eye candy

I'd say fireman ed was a better cheerleader. at least during a game the crowd does chant the same cheer together as a group. do the dallas cowboy cheerleaders acutally even try to cheer? I thought that that where just a dance group pretending to be cheerleaders...

'Any Given Sunday' is the official slogan for this season. Except for the Bills and the 49'ers.

They can make a point and fire Wade and/or Garrett and appoint a couple interim coaches, but that doesn't really fix the problem. Cowher or someone like him won't take over a mess like this midseason.

Phillips is a very good defensive coordinator.
he NEVER should have been goven the reigns of the Cowboys. His personality doesn't inspire anyone, much less polished enough to handle the media demands of one of the highest profile positions in pro sport. Another Jerry Jones gaffe. This team needs a Bill Cowher-like personality to come in and kick some rear-ends all over the field.. get an identity, play some tough D and execute proper fundamentals.
