Moss-Pats end brewing for months

08:09 AM ET 10.11 | The fate of Randy Moss may have been sealed over the winter. Last February, when Randy Moss told reporters in Florida that he expected this season to be his last with the Patriots, the comment seemed to come out of left field. Fitting, since he was talking at former teammate Heath Evans's charity softball game. But according to a source close to Moss, the receiver already had been told by coach Bill Belichick that he wasn't part of their future plans. As is the case in the breakup of many marriages, the divorce between Moss and the Patriots -- which seemed to happen swiftly last week, when the 33-year-old receiver was sent to Minnesota for a third-round draft pick -- actually had been coming for some time.

It's Upset Weekend in the NFL. Are the Jets going into this game overconfident?

I am just tickled he didn't get his ring as karma can be a B***! After he quit on the Raiders.. he showed his true colours. The Pats took a worthy gamble and it paid off.. but the team knew he was not in their long-range plans all along.

Thanks for the memories Randy. It was a lot of fun watching you make some of those ridiculous one handed catches, but time moves on and you are getting too old to lay out a huge $$, multi-year contract for.

In the end it came down to your unwillingness or inability to get the dirty yards in between the hash marks that sent you packing. Unfortunately, you started to prove the naysayers right with your outburst after the Bengals game and frankly the Patriots will do just as well without you as they did with you. Good luck in Minnesota and i here's to hoping that you will fight for the ball a little harder out there. Lord knows Brett's passes are not going to be to the right colored uniform as often as Tom's were and you'll need to polish up your skills at breaking up the INT.

Man, there were some real shockers yesterday. We can only hope that the Minnesota D-line beats the shytte out of NY's panty wearing QB and scars him for life.

Bengals-Tampa, Washington beating the Packers, and Raiders-Chargers. WOW!

While the winner might not be completely shocking, raise your hand if you thought Detroit would destroy the Rams like that or Tennessee would go into Dallas and win.

Sanchez is a tough kid. And a good kid to boot.

The latter was hardly a surprise, other than the fact that Vince Young looked like a pro bowl qb with his arm.

Thanks Mrs. Sanchez.

I didn't watch the whole game, but the Dallas "D" looked awful. For me the thing that stuck out in my mind while watching was how Young and Romo might be the two least fundamentally sound QB's in the game.
