Coaches using OSU to hurt Boise State?

08:46 AM ET 10.11 | A world that finds one AP voter ranking Alabama No. 3 may be courting conspiracy theorists, some of whom may wonder about coaches using Oregon State as a pawn. Oregon State had the ball and a chance to win against TCU until a turnover foiled those plans, and the Beavers were in the game at Boise until the fourth quarter. Yet, Oregon State can't crack the top 25? Either the coaches aren't paying attention or, worse, they are. The conspiracy theorists -- and there are plenty out there -- might suggest the coaches are holding Oregon State out to hurt Boise State.

I'd rather have coaches making decisions than computers... let's just let the season run its course; I'm sure they're plenty more surprises out there...

The AP/journalist poll is garbage, the Coaches' poll is a bit better but it's still subject to favoritism - mainly coaches who overly prop up mid-tier teams in their conference.

Between recruiting, film study, practices and keeping the young men in line and on an even keel, they have no time for actually ranking properly. Just like in all facets of head coaching, there is some passing on the 'minor' details to assistants.

No one will hurt the smurfs, except the smurfs themselves! All they can do is win out and they still won't go to the NC game.

Who did Boise State beat? Virginia Tech? There are 13 undefeated teams out there right now. LSU beat 3 nationally-ranked teams so far. Boise State beat 2, with Va Tech being one.
Even Michigan State beat Wisconsin and Michigan!
Boise State being ranked that high makes absolutely no sense to me. Their strength of schedule's terrible. They haven't beaten anyone of real note. LSU beat (then) #18 North Carolina, Vandy, Miss State, (then) #22 West Virginia, Tennessee and (then) #14 Florida.
Boise State beat (then) #10 Va Tech, Wyoming, (then) #24 Oregon State, New Mexico State and Toledo. That's it! And right now, Va Tech isn't ranked. Nor is Oregon State. So they didn't beat anyone.
LSU beat West Virginia AND Florida. They are still ranked!
So why is Boise State ranked higher than LSU? It simply doesn't make any sense to me.
