12:26 PM ET 10.11 | Things went from bad to worse this weekend for Roush Fenway's stable of Chase contenders. Engine and ignition troubles plagued Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth throughout the fourth race of the Chase at Fontana. Edwards, finished a disappointing 34th after being sidelined on pit row for 14 laps. "It was something in the ignition -- the rotor is what they said, in the distributor -- and it was scattering the spark," he said. "I could tell it was going away and then finally it just quit. It didn't blow up the engine, it ran well, we just had a part failure in there and that's the way racing goes." The mechanical problems at Fontana have nearly crushed the team's hope of contending for this year's Cup title, as Jimmie Johnson increased his lead to 36 points at California. Edwards is currently 162 points behind the four-time champ.

Well I'll be, they waited till mid day to put something new on here, and it is about the chase, this is unheard of, Roush did have a real bad day yesterday, but I don't think we better count them out just yet. Thank You FanNation. LOL

I don't know about that cry baby stuff Mr Float, I think they ALL are whinners at certain times, I myself think they get caught up in the moment and don't know what else to do other than vent their anger, at one another and anyone that near them. HA! I gotta admit. it seems every race Jeffy is running bad (not leading) he is shouting that the car is junk and the worse car he has ever driven

Not sure how he can have the "worse car he has ever driven" almost week after week, and still be in the standings where he is.

they whine, I whine, the wife drinks wine.. who cares.

How long does it take to pop on a new Rotor??? 14 laps!??!?! I guess the crew can change 4 tires in 13sec...but they 'can't turn 2 screws and replaces a rotor in 14min. Sorry 'bout that Cousin Carl......

This just in!! FLASH NEWS BULLETIN!!
nascar is renaing the chase, it will now be called "chasing Jimmie Johnson."
the book, movie and tv series deals are all still in the works.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, company came, as for Kyle,I agree in part, but I have seen a lot of matruity in him this year,and he has done one hell of a job, it is unfortunate for him to loose an engine, but it's the old saying again, [ thats racing ] .

they didnt know what the problem was IIRC, first they thought it was water in the fuel but turned out to be the distributor or something..
