09:18 AM ET 10.12 | Is there a lack of accountability at Texas? During the bye week, Mack Brown and his staff did some serious soul-searching, looked at themselves in every mirror that Matthew McConaughey wasn't already using, and came up with the following conclusion: They're just fine. ... [No] seismic shifts. No job demotions. Not a shred of panic, even though Texas has vanished from the Top 25 rankings for the first time since 1999. And fans have to wonder if Mack is preaching accountability. With his staff as well as his players.

It's Kirk Bohls. the ultimate in stupidity and negative Texas comments. he wants to be the next Skip Bayless.

Wow, he really is shooting low, isn't he?

Bayless is an Oklahoma guy, isn't he?

Bayless was a sports caster in Dallas for a while....he and Verne Lundquist.

Verne... I love that guy. I realize that, technically, he's horrible at what he does, but he's such a happy drunk, I can't help buy like him.

Googled him (ok, so I'm bored)...he was born in OK City and schooled at Vandy. Sports caster at KLIF in Dallas before he went to ESPN

OK...he was also top Sports Writer for both Dallas Morning News and Dallas Times Herald...wrote 3 books on the Cowboys.

Nuff on this subject....

Texas will be just fine. Everyone has down years. They lost one of thier Best QB's ever. Give em a year. This is the sign of a spoiled fan base.

I don't know if he is an OK guy or not. Those defending him say he goes to an extreme to prove he is not a homer but those who attack him say he doesn't like Tx arrogant elitism. Either way I know Mack is not a fan. It started way back during the Simms/Applewhite controversy, escalated when he voted for Bush over VY for the Heisman, moved forward when he voted OU over Tx in 2008 and then Bradford over McCoy in 08 for the Heisman. Most of his columns seem to have a negative slant and he will jump on bad press but dismiss good press. But this story is far off. Based on Macks PC yesterday you would think everything is great which leads one to wonder if they are just saying that for the general public or if they are completely delusional. No way everything is great right now.But as I said before the season started I was hoping for a 10-3 season but think it might be a 9-4 one or worse.

I'm almost sure he said he was an Oklahoma guy before the RRSO on that show he does with Robert Smith Satuyrday mornings, if you've seen it. It's a 30 minute show on ESPN at about 7:30 on Saturdays.

I'm pretty sure he called Oklahoma "My Oklahoma" when they were talking about who would win the RRSO.

The situation at Texas sounds more and more like the situation at Florida. Change a few names and the story is identical.

Exactly. Fan base at both places are very spoiled and demanding. Nothing wrong with that, it is what it is. They have been good for a while now.

and clutch WR's. I agree with you. The fans are nuts right now. Fire this guy, fire that guy. Hire so and so. Bench this player. Gilbert sucks. blah blah blah. Mack can't judge talent. there are even Will may not be as good as we thought stories....crazy.

FJJ, I think the Horns are doing better than your other team. What's going on down there in the former republic?

I do think y'all pull it together to give the Huskers a fight this Saturday. Don't know if it's a W but the 10 point spread seems high to me.

+1, Pachy. If you've been a fan of your school's team for several decades as most of us have been, with knowledge of its history, the the ecstacy of winning, the shock of getting upset, the resignation of a losing season, coaching changes, controversy, and of the hope that springs eternal at the beginning of every season, then perspective enters and acceptance begins.Fans without perspective scream the loudest when their team has a hiccup.

I just make sure that I drink enough to forget any of the bad games. By the way anyone know how the Bama game ended this weekend? I seem to have lost about 5 hours of my life due to a black out. I can only assume that Bama rolled.

Whats that?

Oh.

Setting the bar low results in a remarkable chance at success.

To paint a silver lining here...you could also say that it points to how successful the Texas program (or any like program that goes down, like FL) is....have to have a program that expects to win to have a fan base that passionate.

By birth, but he went to Vanderbilt. That's why it was so easy to find topics on which he and Woody Paige (Tennessee alum) disagreed.
