09:18 AM ET 10.12 | Is there a lack of accountability at Texas? During the bye week, Mack Brown and his staff did some serious soul-searching, looked at themselves in every mirror that Matthew McConaughey wasn't already using, and came up with the following conclusion: They're just fine. ... [No] seismic shifts. No job demotions. Not a shred of panic, even though Texas has vanished from the Top 25 rankings for the first time since 1999. And fans have to wonder if Mack is preaching accountability. With his staff as well as his players.

Verne... I love that guy. I realize that, technically, he's horrible at what he does, but he's such a happy drunk, I can't help buy like him.

Googled him (ok, so I'm bored)...he was born in OK City and schooled at Vandy. Sports caster at KLIF in Dallas before he went to ESPN

Texas will be just fine. Everyone has down years. They lost one of thier Best QB's ever. Give em a year. This is the sign of a spoiled fan base.

I'm almost sure he said he was an Oklahoma guy before the RRSO on that show he does with Robert Smith Satuyrday mornings, if you've seen it. It's a 30 minute show on ESPN at about 7:30 on Saturdays.
I'm pretty sure he called Oklahoma "My Oklahoma" when they were talking about who would win the RRSO.

The situation at Texas sounds more and more like the situation at Florida. Change a few names and the story is identical.

Exactly. Fan base at both places are very spoiled and demanding. Nothing wrong with that, it is what it is. They have been good for a while now.

FJJ, I think the Horns are doing better than your other team. What's going on down there in the former republic?
I do think y'all pull it together to give the Huskers a fight this Saturday. Don't know if it's a W but the 10 point spread seems high to me.

I just make sure that I drink enough to forget any of the bad games. By the way anyone know how the Bama game ended this weekend? I seem to have lost about 5 hours of my life due to a black out. I can only assume that Bama rolled.
Whats that?
Oh.

To paint a silver lining here...you could also say that it points to how successful the Texas program (or any like program that goes down, like FL) is....have to have a program that expects to win to have a fan base that passionate.

By birth, but he went to Vanderbilt. That's why it was so easy to find topics on which he and Woody Paige (Tennessee alum) disagreed.
