Drivers not angered by South Park's NASCAR spoof

10:03 AM ET 10.12 | Despite being getting lampooned on the season premiere of South Park, many drivers are taking the episode with a grain of salt, and some are even pleased with the attention. "To me, regardless of what the positive or negative spins are that all these shows put, I think it's still good publicity for the sport," Jeff Gordon said. "Even if you're making fun of it, I think it's still getting attention that's pretty cool for us." The episode centers on Cartman's desire to prove that he is "poor and stupid" enough to drive in NASCAR. And despite being killed off on the show, Danica Patrick appreciated the episode's focus on NASCAR. "I think anytime somebody takes the time to make fun of you is a compliment."

Too bad the episode didn't have Brian France kidnapped by aliens or something. THAT would have been worth watching.

maybe that could be the sequel?
some folks need to get a grip...Southpark is simple humor, and that is what was intended in that episode....everything has to be politcally correct anymore, and some folks get all upset over good clean fun....

I don't think it can be called a total spoof. Like a lot of SP comedy, there is often quite a bit of truth underlying in the overall message. Poor and stupid may not necessarily apply to NASCAR drivers, that would be inaccurate, but it is not a stretch to lable a good segment of the fan base as such.

To be honest, I was kinda disappointed in the episode because it just wasn't that funny (and I didn't find anything offensive in any of it). They've had some really great episodes in the past few seasons, but it didn't seem like there was a whole lot of effort put into this one or the storyline in general.

Did you see the article scenedaily.com had on Kyle Busch last Friday? The actual title of the article was "Kyle Busch says David Reutimann races him like an "A" -whole" (but it actually used the word in the title with asterisks). The article itself, however, didn't use any asterisks whatsoever. Now THAT'S journalism.

I find your remark unsuitable Sir, because one doesen't agree with a person you revert to swearing? Thats kind of small, there seems like there is a lot of that on the Nascar portion of FanNation, I guess thats the differance between some people, with out saying anymore.

I won't quote you SIR,as it takes up to much bandwidth,I do post on other sections of FanNation and enjoy it,but they don't spew discontent and anger most of the time, this is not the first time for me being on FanNation, I was on a few years ago, Mr Lucky was my handel,as far as you looking for an argument, It isn't going to happen.
