The shaky offensive line play seems to be due to some key injuries to the O-line sustained during the nebraska game. Then the trojans were firing mightily. what is significant is that Carroll doesn't seem to be able to be bring cohesiveness back to the O-line and that's affected Booty. The keys to the rest of the season for Troy are 1) Carroll has to solve the line problem. If he does, George says Booty plays better (if he hasn't been replaced). And 2) shoring up the morale of the Trojans after biting loss to lowly Stanford in the Colosseum. Time will tell, but the trojans will be vulnerable in the meantime.

USC has always been overrated

One bad game and the sky is falling in Trojan land. This is just ridiculous. This team will bounce back.

Look I can't stand USC, but come on the talent they have had in the last few years haas been unbelieveable. They don't have the marquee players they are used to and everyone in the pac-10 wins their own private super bowl when they take down the Trojans.

As a Michigan fan I am outraged that USC only dropped from #2 to #10. I understand dropping Michigan out of the top 25, no argument from me. Stanford has a losing record and USC was favored by 41 pts! You're telling me that the fact that USC has looked shaky this whole year and the fact that they lost to one of the worst D-1 teams in the country that it only merits a drop of 8 places??

Just ridiculous, and I think it shows that the voters are afraid that USC may be, shhh OVERRATED.

Nuh uh, J. Hova. The Trojans have looked vulnerable from even before the season began. The Stanford debacle - and that one should NEVER have happened - merely underscored the vulnerabilities. The sting of that ain;t going to go away soon. They Trojans will come back to some degree, but they are stll vulnerable. (But then again so is LSU.)

As for the "all that talent" viewpoint: take a look at the Yankees and "all that talent" and where it got them. "Team" ALWAYS mere "Talent." Right now, the Trojans are not the team they could be.

I thought all along USC was overrated this year, and that they would lose 2-3 conference games. But I still don't think losing to Stanford, a bad team in your conference, is as bad as losing to a Division II team. They should have drop furhter down, but I don't agree is as bad a the Michigan loss - as surprising maybe - but not as bad

I have always thought of USC as overrated. They always rely on talent and never on the fundamentals so when a team that had less talent and had the basics down..it was like a match made in heaven. I HATE USC and all that they stand for...all of those bandwagon fans came out of the woodwork back in 2000 when they actually started winning again. Too bad now we can't have the LSU/USC match up so we can really show the nation just how good the SEC really is and squash all those who thought LSU could never beat a team like USC. They have been living dangerously all year and I often wondered how they could hold the top spot despite the fact that they barely beat teams that they should have blown out. The answer to your question now is from what we saw on Saturday even the SEC's lowly Vanderbuilt could beat USC..and to think I was looking forward to seeing the LSU/USC match up..but I guess I can hold the loss to Stanford over their heads now..

A bunch of Henny Penny's in Trojan Land running around going the sky is falling, the sky is falling. Come on, you lost one game. One game, and you all act like it's over. This team just needs to get refocused and play Arizona this Saturday.

It's no doubt that USC has been and still is OVER-RATED.
But why - they have recruited talent above all other schools. If you lined them up position to position against anyone else comparing recruited rankings - USC would win.
Whats different is the recruits at USC aren't living up to their potential. Probably due in large part to the coaching staff not doing a good enough job at developing players.

I remember a recent blog .... "Carrol is over-rated"
Put your favorite coach in Carrol's place - at USC, with all that recruited talent, against that schedule, and what would you expect???

Southernmarine25, I wouldn't go so far as to say that because
I'm sure USC could manage to beat Alabama (not real good on
offense), Arkansas (relys too much on one player), Mississippi,
Mississippi St., and Vandy, all these teams are kind of in a rutt
and very beatable. USC has had some injuries and are not
playing as a coessive unit yet but with their talent don't totally
count out that LSU/USC match-up you would like to see. There
are a lot of suspect teams in the top 10 right now and I can see
a lot of them taking a lose before it's all said and done. Just to
clarify things, I hate USC just about as much as anyone.

See but this is the Michigan fan in me. We lost to Appalachian State for crying out loud, and then got beaten up by Oregon and I wasn't crying that the season is over. Yeah our shot at the National Championship was over, but goodness gracious I am not going to throw away the whole Wolverine season based on some losses.

You all are killing me with this they are done stuff. It was one game. If USC can beat Oregon and Cal they are right back in the top 5 so get over it, and just move on already.

I never said the loss to Stanford was as bad as Michigan losing to App. State. I only stated that they do not deserve to be in the top 10 after losing to an absolutely terrible Stanford team. They were favored to win by 41 pts, Stanford's back up qb was playing and he had only attempted 3 passes before that game. Yet, USC drops only to 10, that is bs. They should be 15th at best, but more like 20th. From different ranking systems, Stanford is ranked everywhere from in the 60s to the 80s out of the 119 teams in the country.

USC lost to a team at least 50 spots below them in the rankings and were favored by 41 pts and lost to a qb who's never played before that game, but they only drop 8 spots??

I know Michigan deserved to fall out of the top 25 and I didn't say that USC's loss was as bad as Michigan. I'm just saying if you lose to an unranked team that has a losing record when you're favored by 41, then you should fall more than 8 spots, PERIOD.
