Washington on Teixeira: 'I guess he disliked me'

08:58 AM ET 10.15 | Add another subplot to Yankees-Rangers: the relationship between Mark Teixeira and Ron Washington. Both like where they are, but that wasn't the case when they shared a clubhouse. Neither speaks of it easily -- Teixeira in fact not at all -- but there was an undeniable friction between them when Washington was a rookie manager and Teixeira his starting first baseman back in 2007. "It was a one-night thing where something happened in a ballgame and I called him on it. From that point on, I guess he disliked me," Washington told the Daily News. "Other than that I always felt I gave him the respect that he deserved."

My first Autograph was Ron Washington, Old Met Stadium, back in 1980. When he played for the twins he used to run out walks.

Tex seems like kind of a creampuff....doesn't put me in mind of someone that would take criticism well. Good thing he plays for Mr Sunshine in NY

I have no ill feelings toward any Yankee (including A-Rod)... except Teixeira.

He's a rick...

Seems Tex keeping his mouth shut was the better option.

I'm sure they will both be greeted appropriately tonight.

Defense never slumps.

This appears to be big news, if it were January 25th during the slow offseason.

He was running out walks because he was juiced up on nose candy.

Family guy reference...kind of rhetorical, but we can play this game.

October 15, 2010  10:28 AM ET

So when Washington goes to his nose during a game it is not a signal?
