Sunday, Giants coach Tom Coughlin benched starting CB Aaron Ross two quarters for violating an unspecified team rule. Yesterday, he and the team cut CB E.J. Underwood off the practice squad. According to someone familiar with the Giants' thinking, Underwood was released for missing a team meeting last week. The person requested anonymity because the team didn't give a reason for Underwood's release.

History shows when Couglin cracks down, the wheels come off! Prepare for the fallout!

way to crackdown on a practice squad player. now if you can control your bench or even your 1st string, then you'll have something..

October 10, 2007  08:19 AM ET

seems we have something happening in NEw Jersey every week, don't we? The Giants have turned themselves into the NFL's own personal soap opera - with the NFL Network doing so well, maybe they can make an ACTUAL soap opera show about them - call it Touchdowns and Tears: The Giants neverending saga...they could run the show 52 weeks a year!

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Tom's problems began when he started showing the players who was boss without earning their respect first. This is going to go well.

Yeah tell me about it....I smell a mutiny....

As far at tv shows go Canada.....at least the Giants aren't contestants on "Who wants to be a quarterback".....

You guys are a rip..Now let me see...hmmmm. Ross sits a half, then intercepts two passes, returns one for a touchdown, gives the head coach a hug after the game, and that is bad....hmmmm?..Coughlins team is 0 and 2, given up for dead, he turns it around so they are 3-2 and playing well and competitive again and he is a lousy coach?....hmmm..100 wins in his carreer and he is no good?...Let me know when Wade Phillips has 100 wins..

Hey guy, I'm not saying he is a bad coach in the sense that he doesn't win games, but when he came to the giants his big spiel was discipline and getting back to the basics, developing a solid running game and compliment it was a stiff defense and play action....

Now I'm cool with that, as it reminds me of the way the giants USED to be when they were winning superbowls....but I have yet too see all of his preachings implemented...especially the discipline...that is what disappoints me...

October 10, 2007  09:49 AM ET

Oh, you mean he's doing his job?

October 10, 2007  09:50 AM ET

Wow, he really cracked the wip. He cut a practice squad member and sit out CB Aaron Ross for a half.

I want to see more of Aaron Ross in the NFL. Being a Longhorns fan, we know that he wasn't that good. He didn't even start until his senior season. CB Terrell Brown started over Ross for 2 seasons and when the seniors left it was CB Brown and CB Ross, he started. He only returned punts. Brown just got into trouble....he is faster, better at coverage....We will see though. I still like Ross, just saying he wasnt the best at Texas.

At this point, I'm ready for my team to pick up any CB's available.

AL, yeah I follow the longhorns too....a little known fact about the army, they issue you a football team as well...you get one of 5 teams...TU...I mean UT, T A&M, the red raiders, LSU or oklahoma....I just so happened to be issued the longhorns...been following them ever since...

I think the Giants made a sound choice in Ross and he is already showing what he is made of....

That is why you are just a little off Agent, you should have gone to the Air Force Brother!

AO&AL:
One of my buddies from work finally dragged me onto the Longhorn Bandwagon. Ya know, with a name like Colt McCoy, how can he be that bad? If I see him skip one more pass off a linemans helmet, i may start rooting for Rice.

October 10, 2007  10:20 AM ET

lol. I know what you are saying. For whatever reason, he isn't getting good looks into the throwing lanes. I know his knock is that he is 6-2....but so is Favre and Romo. He needs to move around better.

Then I'd be a legacy (daddy's a full bird)....and they'd probably make me like Penn State or something awful like that....

October 10, 2007  10:35 AM ET

eh..he's just a soph...theres time.

October 10, 2007  10:47 AM ET

I guess people in Texas just expect him to be better than last season......and to beat the FREAKIN Sooners!

This OU hat on my head doesn't look good or feel great............I feel like I just got beat up by a girl............no comments, punks!
