08:41 AM ET 10.17 | A decent chance exists that Panthers receiver Steve Smith will be dealt before the trading deadline Tuesday. Going back to last offseason, the Panthers are auctioning off just about everything but the black cat sculptures in front of Bank of America Stadium.

And the fire sale continues in Carolina. Who the heck is Clausen going to throw to? When you rebuild, you don't have to get rid of everything.

Smith is no longer in his prime although he could be extremely useful to another team. The question that he needs to answer surrounds his willingness to possibly be the second option, depending on the team he may get traded to.

Dude's a player but he is hurt ALL the time...

Before the Moss trade, I could have seen him go to Minnesota. How about New England or San Diego?

NE - Maybe...

SD - no way... as long as A.J. is running the team.

That makes a lot of sense. The Panthers have no other receiver worth anything that can actually make a play or catch the ball. The Panthers are better off trading Stewart or Williams at RB and getting another WR. The word in Charlotte is that Richardson will be selling the team and he's trying to make it better for the new owner to come in and create his own team. From a fan's point of view, it sucks.

Panthers shopping Smith?

Yes they are. I saw him listed just below the $33 Air Jordans.

Smith to the Giants would be amazing. The announcers would have migraines.

that would exceed the amount of same name/same position capabilities in a 5 year period.

Front office talk:

Panicking Guy #1: "Don't just stand there, DO something!"
Panicking Guy #2: "Umm, how 'bout trading Smith?"
Panicking Guy #1: "Great, I'll break out the bubbly!"
Panicking Guy #2: "What?"

Maybe they could suit up the waterboy as a wideout.

Stupid move, but if he must go send him down the road to the ATL...

If you act now, they'll also throw in your choice of any Ed Hardy products.

Denver could also use another deep threat besides Thomas and Royal.

October 17, 2010  10:29 AM ET

the jets could use another knuckle head receiver.

I think the flag football injury pissed someone off in the front office.

I'm pretty sure this has something to do with Smith calling timeout and dressing down Clausen in front of the world a few games ago. There might be some insurmountable tension there and the Panthers are making a choice. (Insert pouty clausen photo here)

I hear the UFL is looking!

Jimmy Clausen must have slept with the GM's wife. They're certainly trying to punish him.
