Tigers GM made call on Pudge
So much for Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski not wanting Pudge back. You probably heard the speculation: The only way Pudge Rodriguez would return next year as the Tigers' catcher was if owner Mike Ilitch wanted him to. Not so. After reviewing all the input from his scouts and everyone else in the organization whose opinion he values, Dombrowski gave his boss a recommendation: Exercise Pudge's option. Give him the $13 million.

Pudge is the face of the Detroit Tigers. He came here when nobody would. Yeah, the money didn't hurt, but he opened the door and others followed. Give the guy what he wants, he did ressurect the franchise from the dead for gods sake, should have never even THOUGHT about turning your back on him now that the franchise is back on it's feet. If it wasn't for Pudge, we would still be competing for the worst record in baseball history year after year.
