08:01 AM ET 10.18 | The Chargers' offense may be in trouble with the possible loss of tight end Antonio Gates, who left Sunday's game in the first half with a left ankle injury. [Gates] remained in the game, but the injury worsened when a defensive back fell on his leg after Gates caught a pass in the second quarter. "I just couldn't go," Gates said. "I couldn't move it at all. It was still really stiff, and I couldn't put pressure on it." ... Gates' diagnosis won't be complete until an x-ray and an MRI are conducted Monday, but early indications aren't good. He left the locker room in a protective boot, which suggests he could miss a week or more.

No, not at all. If they can eliminate the stupid penalties, they'll be tough for anyone the rest of the season.

the wheels finally falling off the San Diego wagon?
Gates was the only playmaker they have had

Chargers are done... No way they way pull this season out; Smith put the whammy on the team with the way he handled Jackson and O'neil... had to have the team second guessing...

Chargers will never admit it, but the loss of L.T. is showing up in the locker room... They have no leader.

Yep! Couple that with their stubborn (or is it just arrogant) GM gumming up the works and you reap what you sew.

Might work, but each team would demand the other also take the owner in the deal.

Then it's off! We don't want Spanos and sure as hell don't want Smith!

Dear Chargers,

You have ruined my 3 team parlay for the last time. I am over you. Last year we tried to be exclusive and you hurt me whenever I needed you. This year we have tried to be friends and same results. Sure you may be more friendly towards the end of the year but I am done being destroyed by you.

Ah, nothing like looking into the face of true horror to put your own problems in perspective.

Tougher schedule going forward, plus their only playmaker gone.

They lost to the Raiders and St Louis, NO LT, Sproles isn't an every down back, etc. Pats, Titans, Texans, Broncos are all up next (with a bye in there). I see a 0-4 run coming.....
