09:30 AM ET 10.18 | A day after helping Kentucky to an upset win over South Carolina, Randall Cobb had some unkind words for Wildcat football fans. In a series of Twitter messages Sunday afternoon, Cobb took UK fans to task for showing up late, not filling Commonwealth Stadium and criticizing the team before its comeback in a 31-28 upset win against No. 10 South Carolina last Saturday night. Shortly thereafter, Cobb deleted the tweets. UK coach Joker Phillips characterized Cobb's outburst as regrettable but understandable.

He does realize he's not on the basketball team, doesn't he?

Kentucky is all about basketball. They should move to the ACC.

Vandy looks at the athletic dept as part of the school and not a separate department like most of the other schools.
In September 2003, Vanderbilt earned national attention when it announced that it was eliminating its athletic department. Then-Chancellor Gee called Vanderbilt's varsity athletes "isolated", and insisted that student-athletes would perform better if they were integrated into the rest of the student body. So rather than administer athletics separately from student life, Gee folded the university's varsity teams into the Office of Student Life, the same group that oversees all student organizations.
...and Duke? Seriously? Then perhaps they should get a coach and pay him more than they pay Coach K....

Surely someone told him before he went to Kentucky that the fans there just aren't into football?
Did he even take a visit when he went there?

I think Cobb should teach the Wildcats' fans a lesson by playing really awful against Tennessee.

No, if Les Timex had called that play, it would have worked.
If Les Timex were leading the D-Day invasion, the Allies would have landed in Spain but still would have won the war.

Lots of ignorance, as expected, about Kentucky and Kentucky football. Yes, Kentucky fans are tough, but considering our football team is mediocre year in and year out, yet manages to consistently fill (if not sellout) Commonwealth Stadium every game, says a LOT about Kentucky fans. So, haters, hate on - Kentucky fans have few peers when it comes to team loyalty in both basketball and football.

Seriously, I don't think anyone is hating. We're telling the bald facts. It's not meant to insult Kentucky or make fun of them, but EVERYONE knows they are a basketball school and not really a football school.
You claiming we're hating is a lot like this story I like to tell....
When Boston played the Yankees in the late 50s, Jimmy Piersall came to bat. Jimmy was known for emotional outbursts. So, he looks at Yogi Berra behind the plate and says...
"If you have your pitcher bean me, I'll bash your brains in with this bat."
To which Yogi replies, "We don't bean players that bat .200."
Now, that's a funny story. No offense so don't think I'm hating.

Oh, that does make sense. What kind of crappy fan doesn't save some good hooch for the star player on the football team? Cobb had every right to be disgusted with the Wildcats fans.

I can't take credit, though. I just thought the "D-Day" bit was so funny that I had to plagiarize.

That system seems to be working pretty well at VU. Yes we dream of a football championship but we also want to win championships in basketball, soccer, baseball, tennis, etc. We are no different than the other schools with the exception of the entry requirements in some instances. Those requirements have been prohibitive, especially in football. On the bright side you won't be reading about Vandy players being arrested with the exception of RS freshman Jermaine Doster, who in 2008 was booked for being disorderly after leaving a bar. He was promptly suspended for a year by Coach Johnson.
