Bulls a study in slow chemistry

08:10 AM ET 10.19 | Thanks in large part to injuries -- to Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver, Taj Gibson, and Ronnie Brewer -- the Bulls' chemistry experiment is slow in developing. With nine new players and a new coaching staff, how quickly the Bulls can jell is one of the dominant storylines to this season. "Winning brings team chemistry," [Tom] Thibodeau said. "For the most part, we have high character and good workers on this team. I expect our chemistry to be very good. We're still a work in progress."

Translation: We are going to suck pretty bad until everyone gets healthy.

A lot of bloggers have been singing the Bulls praises, anticipating a top 4 finish in the east...

... I don't agree.

I haven't seen anything from them over the last few years to raise high expectations, and, with the new changes they need to establish the type of teams they're going to be... so does Miami for that matter.

I'm taking a wait and see approach.

I totally agree with you. Without Boozer they're not better than what they were last year and lets not forget they've first round playoff knockouts two straight years. Rose can only take them so far. Noah is not a scorer and they lack a whole lot on the perimeter. Until some team takes Deng and his salary they will struggle as they can't add to the roster and it aint like Deng has the talent to live up to his salary. Chicago's in a tough spot than many perceive. I really hope they get one or two healthy seasons out of Boozer....

Kyle Korver is a pretty solid perimeter player. If all he's asked to do is spot up, he'll be a huge addition. They had a pretty nice offseason, despite being overshadowed by a few other teams. Added Bogans, Price and Watson to help the back court and Boozer and Kurt Thomas for the post. They have a very solid team if they can stay healthy. And I'm not sure why people are down on Deng. He had a pretty productive season last year.

noted...Boozer will be back in time to gel with the team...worse case: they fall to the 6th seed where they draw the magic...

Its all about health, if healthy ,they are certainly not as talented as boston/miami......they are though on par with orlando and atl........so they could be as high as a #3 seed or as low as 5

True, Bulls can be in that 3-5 spot.
But I personally hate the "if healthy" excuse, as it can apply to a lot of underachievers.
IF Yoa stays healthy, he would put Houston over the top?
IF Oden stays healthy, Portland could be making a lot of noise in the west.
List can be endless with the " if healthy" excuse, IMO.

Sorry, Brewer, not Price.

Is Kurt Thomas still playing in the NBA?

Isn't he on the same level as Shaq now in terms of effectiveness?

You pick Boozer as your No.1 guy and then complain about injuries? It just comes as a package deal; The dude is more hurt than on the court.

October 19, 2010  09:11 AM ET

Once everbody gets healthy, they should pick up speed through the season landing a #5-7 seed in the playoffs.

Shaq is more effective, but he's a quality big in terms of leadership and toughness. All that they really lost was Brad Miller. I'd say, all-in-all, the Bulls had a decent summer.

Good point.. having injury prone small forward and power forward is not a good for any team. Deng and Boozer.... hahahah

People make it seem like booze rolled his ankle or something, he broke a damn bone in his hand. Our chemistry will be fine, and why is it that nobody jumps all over MIA for injuries? Wade did not last three minutes, and he has been injured b4, and nobody says a damn word about him.
