Torre verdict may sway Rivera

When the verdict on Joe Torre comes down, it will almost certainly have repercussions on the potential re-signings of other Yankees free agents, particularly Jorge Posada and Mariano Rivera. The Phillies seem like a leading candidate to bid for Rivera. They need a closer, have the financial resources to join the bidding, and would be a likely playoff contender again.

I'm a big Mets fan...but I like Joe Torre and the Yankees wouldn't be the same with out him and if he leaves you no Posada, Mariano, and A-Rod would go...to tell you the truth if Torre is fired I hope he joins the Mets coaching staff...I don't no where but I think he should return to his roots

I don't think Torre will join any coaching staff. He will be the manager and he probably could have his pick of teams, but all of this and every other opinion has already been said 8 billion times on these Torre threads.

This is not news to us people at T&R, at least it isn't to me. Many of us said this would be part and parcel of the fallout if the Yankees did not renew Joe Torre's contract.

I hope all the good players leave if they fire Torre. Let Jeter be there by hisself since everyone says it't his team anyway. A-Rod all day...

October 11, 2007  09:47 AM ET

how funny would it be if Arod and Posada end up on the Mets? lol

October 11, 2007  09:49 AM ET

Yes, that would be a maelstrom of hilarity, doubtlessly.

October 11, 2007  09:54 AM ET

Posada would certainly be an improvement over what the Mets have now.
