10:16 AM ET 10.19 | It's a good thing that Kasey Kahne's season at Richard Petty Motorsports is almost over. The driver of RPM's No. 9 was livid after his brakes failed during Saturday night's Bank of America 500, but he was further enraged by a comment made by one of his team members. "I was told I needed to start doing my part, is what one guy told me last night after the race, and I told him he needs to do his part," Kahne said. "I mean, I can't control the issues I've had this year. I don't know how many parts I've broken, how many shifter handles, control arms, brakes. If I really thought about it, I could come up with all kinds of stuff. I can't control that as a driver. I'm doing my part. I just need the car." Kahne will drive for Red Bull Racing in the interim year before he heads to Hendrick Motorsports in 2012.

I have always liked Kahne, always figured he was just a tick away from being a real good driver. Not sure anymore. it does seem he is like all the rest in the whining department. I don't expect miracles next year but when he moves to Hendrick, hopefully things will improve. Biting my tongue and not commenting on one of the Hendrick drivers. LOL

The article Gods are smiling on us. Another new article, maybe they hired someone that is showing up for work every day.

I said it on Kodiak blog....Petty....Not a Happy work place...Going from #9 Kahne, #19 Sadler, #43 A.J., #98 Menard, to next year only #9 Ambrose, #43 A.J....can you say Pink Slips / Layoffs are coming at Petty

LOL JK,my thoughts also, a new hired hand, or should I say person.

And why Petty even put the car back out on the track..., it finished 38th, 120 laps down, and two spots in front of #77 Sam 40th, who Kahne got into on lap 125.

for sure.. goes back even further when you look at the consolidations that preceded. While he was long past whatever "prime" he ever had, Kyle Petty was not so ceremoniously shown the door too. Family eh?

Thanks for another story T&R.
KK (and if his middle name is Kenneth he better keep it to himself) is one of those guys that could be very good in the right circumstance. Look how McMurray has done this year. Not in the chase but BIG wins. Kasey kan do the same I think, if all goes right. (Sorry for the 'kan' business. Some days I am really annoying.)

October 19, 2010  01:01 PM ET

I think it's mostly subpar equipment coupled with the fact they aren't going to let him in on much anymore (such as when happens when one driver is finishing a season with one team but they've already signed to go somewhere else next season).

He's had a respectable career and still young, so I expect him to produce much more once he switches.

October 19, 2010  01:08 PM ET

Kinda sounds like that crew member feels a little betrayed by Kahne leaving. Hey, that's the nature of the business. People come and go. Have to agree with Kasey, it's not his fault parts are breaking. If they're blaming each other now, there's virtually no chance of Kahne getting a win before this season is over.

Can't wait to see him behind the wheel of a real car.

I finally figured I would post on here.. has been a long time... I like to read and observe and have decided to be a little more active here. Kahne will do well in the right equipment.. should be a decent year for him before the move to Hendricks. It's amazing the number of stories that we have been given lately and would like to see that number continue to increase as there can be some very valid discussions on topic here.. that being said with the complaining about said stories and the lack of writers to publish them with the latest round of Float at it again and with his tag alongs they probably gave the nascar section to someone suited to their level of development.. sorry Float someone had to telll the truth. knowing I will be amused with the mindless banter from the recess gang for my last statement I am fully ready.. get out your pen and pap.... oops... get the big crayons from the box and let's stay in the lines.

like I stated I'm here and I read the comments.. just normally glance through without signing in.. well thanks.. that saved me from having to see how long it has been and my post count.. thought I would jump in with both feet and get you all rilled up float.. seems like a simple enough task.. after reading you pounce on the other newcomers I thought I would get the heads up.. either way I'll be around..

NOVA, when you are put in charge, I'm sure you will ban me seeing you have entered the Mod. Squad now. Never would have thought that to happen.

Just to be clear, The (.) comments I made were to clear the page so everyone could read the comments.

I had nothing to do with the text size or any other modifications that you speak of.

Thanks.

back to the subject of this posting.

when we were coming up on our time to leave the country, or get out of the service, we used to call the "short" (as in short timer).

No pun intended Kasey.

"Lord, I apologize"...............

October 19, 2010  05:53 PM ET

It would be nice if he did well in one of his next two stops, but it seems to be a crapshoot whether that will happen or not. Kyle improved a lot, Jr did not, McMurray has done well now but how many moves did he have. Will just have to wait and see what Kahne does. Hopefully he will not do TOO well at Red Bull and then have to leave and, effectively, start over at Hendrick.

I've long questioned RPM's existance in terms of seriousness and available money, for some time. Except for the 43 car, finishes by the RPM team haven't been earth shattering by any means this season. Since the team has the "Petty" name, I suspect the name part is the only serious investment NASCAR is seeking. I can't blame Casey for wanting out one bit. He has proven he a serious contender, something the RPM team cannot claim. Compared to Hendricks, Gibbs and Childress, RPM is a joke.
