06:35 AM ET 10.20 | Jon Gruden could be back in coaching as soon as next year. He has been linked most prominently with the 1-5 Browns, given his past relationship with team president Mike Holmgren. And, as a practical matter, Gruden's comments could make some current coaches leery about welcoming Gruden to practice and otherwise sharing strategy and secrets for purposes of the broadcast, if they'll be once again competing with Gruden as soon as January.

What the heck does the Browns have to lose? Chuckie is an upgrade over the Dough Boy.

Why does Gruden always look like he's taking a dump?

Gruden and Bill Cowher will both have a lot of options for next season.

If there is a next season. Roger Goodell - I'm talkin' to you, man. Get your dung together and get that new CBA negotiated.

Browns are "an option"? Tim Brewster would have a hard time taking that job right now.

Make it a reality show. Winner coaches the Browns. Loser coaches the Bills.

Cowboy Cowher to the rescue. Browns can have Chuckie.

Cowher working under JJ??? That would be VERY interesting...

I say this a bit tongue in cheek but maybe after 15 years of going nowhere, Jerry might try to work with a guy like that. He did seem to work well with Parcells for the most part.

Chuckie is back!

October 20, 2010  08:42 AM ET

Chuckie is not known to be fond of young QBs, but McCoy's stat line against a really tough Steelers' defense was impressive. He wouldn't have to stock-pile QBs (even though he probably will anyways).

October 20, 2010  08:47 AM ET

heck- either one of them makes the Browns better

Before the draft Gruden talked to McCoy and Tebow a lot and he said he was impressed with McCoy on and off the field so maybe he will be able to work with him.

true...there's always a qb controvesy with chuckie.

he seems like he's way more interested in coaching than tv...cleveland needs a big change to put the mangini years behind them asap...

October 20, 2010  08:52 AM ET

Heck, with Mangina gone, a QB controversy/drama would keep the Browns interesting.

Do you suppose if Mangini groveled on his hands and knees long enough, the Hoodie would rehire him?

the only controversy I see is why was Delhomme signed in the first place? unless they were trying to pad the rest of the AFC north's int stats
