Would Leach take North Texas job?

06:43 AM ET 10.21 | North Texas fired head coach Todd Dodge on Wednesday, ending the experiment of bringing a prominent high school coach to the college game. It's an exciting time for North Texas with the construction of a new stadium, why not make the situation in Denton more exciting by hiring the former "Mad Scientist of West Texas?" That's former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach. For starters, North Texas currently is a 1-6 team and it's not the most appealing job vacancy that will open up this year. Likewise, Leach won't be the best name on the job market come January considering his ongoing lawsuit with Texas Tech University, his eccentric nature and marred reputation.

Oh, yeah, lets not forget that North Texas in Denton is only about 30 minutes tops from Craig James home in Celina. Just take 380 east and head north on Preston. that would make recruiting in the area a ton of fun.

Someone from ESPN would be tweeting every week that James was mad because some kids had egged his house again.

It would, but man, you can win there easier than Minnesota. Great recruiting area, nice place to live and you would be worshipped there. I think you can win at that school, on the lines of a TCU or a notch below them. Why not?

Ah, my old stomping ground on Preston in North Dallas. One of the best areas of the country to live in. I think North Texas is sitting on a gold mine of talent.

Only if he can bring James and the "SHED" with him!!

In a sense...

... but, at least it's employment in the state of Texas.

He's shown his recruiting ability within that state.

reputation rehabilitation.I'd actually go watch one of their games if he were there. They have a nice new stadium and are only 20 minutes away. In fact, I'd go watch them before I'd go to an SMU game. He'd be in the thick of the DFW area for recruits or for that matter Denton and Denton Ryan which is right down the street from the school and produces a ton of D1 talent. The kids that are a step down from Tx, OU, etc...might want to play for the old pirate given his experience.Maybe, just maybe.

I agree...

... it's good for rehab and the location is familiar.

Too funny, yet your MapQuest skills are exact! I live in Frisco so the Pirate could launch his James' raids from my house. Easy access to the Tollway and 380! ARRR!

I hadn't thought about that... it would make for some sweet news up here.

No... His next hire will be by the COWBOYS... someone needs to take them to shed....

October 21, 2010  10:55 AM ET

Leach's next hire will be by the Cowboys as son as JJ realizes someone needs to take his team to a shed
