07:10 AM ET 10.21 | The Red Sox have some compelling and crucial decisions to make this offseason, with 12 players who will become free agents, are arbitration eligible, or have an option year. Among the biggest questions are what to do about David Ortiz and Victor Martinez.

Pay them maybe?

I see them resigning Victor and picking up the 12.5M team option on Papi. Me, I would like to see them trade for a good defensive catcher like Chris Ianetta and let Victor become their everyday DH. I would also like to see Beltre back for around 3 years 36M. Theres a lot of money coming off the books this year so they can't use that as a excuse.

Also trading Dice K and getting in the Cliff Lee bidding couldn't hurt..........

They have close to 60 million coming off the books for next year. Catcher, 3b, dh, bullpen help. Its going to be the most interesting off season around here in some time. Even if they dont trade Dice-K im fine with him as the fifth starter

No & Yes

It will be more interesting to see if they try to resign Beltre.

The spam is getting ridiculous.

According to reports from some Denver news Detroit wants Martinez to split time with Miggy and Avilia at 1st and catcher while also spending time to DH. His career batting average in Detroit though is the lowest in any park in the AL where he has logged over 100 plate appearances not to mention the fact the last home run he put up there was something like July 2007.
Not exactly the stats form a player you would really want on the team that plays half its games in that park.

Considering he has stated he wants to spend more time behind the plate no matter where he goes is that what worries me. His bat is great- but defensivly he has never been a great defensive catcher- God knows he can hit... But for the sake of the team that he goes to I think he might not be an every day catcher option like he was back in the days with Cleveland...

With Tek and V-Mart behind the plate men on base could run all over... I dont know what Saltys stats are but I think they arent gonna want to have them both logging time behind the plate again...

By the way- did Yankees beat the Rangers last night by 5 runs last night?

Still think the Rangers are gonna win but this is a series is ridiculious...

As much as we make fun of Papi, every team needs a fat man on their team. Kind of a jolly mascot. Now that Melky is gone, the Braves should seriously consider him.
