08:26 AM ET 10.23 | Joe Girardi is not signed to a contract, but his return seems to be merely a formality based on what GM Brian Cashman said after the Yankees were knocked out of the playoffs Friday night. "He's absolutely coming back," Cashman said.

I heard a rumor that he's going to Cleveland to be Acta's bench coach. Probably happen before Thanksgiving.

One of my co-workers is furious with Girardi for a number of perceived "bonehead" calls...
I'm curious what the peanut gallery has to offer up?

Joe is a decent manager but he does over think it some times. It almost cost them a few times last season and I think it cost him this year.. But you can't control every thing as a manager. I thought calling for the breaking balls against Vlad was a mistake.... Vlad is a great hitter but he has lost a step or two... Should have been aggressive with the fast ball and make it catch up to it instead of speeding up his bat with the off speed stuff.... It's always easy to look back and say "Should have pulled A.J. an inning earlier" and I felt he should have left Hughes in instead of pulling him after Vlad's hit....
Joe just needs to rely on those stat books a little less.... I think I read it on SI.com but they went with Hughes based on his 2007 season when he pitched so great vs Texas.... Even though Only 4 guys in that line up last night were also in the line up in 2007 and leaving Berkman to face Oliver even though they had not faced off since 2003.... I have always questioned those numbers.. Just like the Yankees were suppose to steam roll Texas because of their Success in 1996, 1998 and 1999..... PLEASE!!!!
Those stats/numbers are only good if are over the past season or two (maybe three) other than that people and players change and get better or worse...
With the options out there name a manager who is unemployed that would be a better choice than Girardi?

You're right. He should be using a Ouija board like most managers. Should I walk Hamilton?? Y-----E------S........ yes, walk him. Should I throw Vlad curveballs?? Y------E--------S

Ouija boards are soooo last year. All the kewl managers are using magic eight balls this season.
Will a slider work in this situation? "Outlook not so good"

The cool ones are always around. We have just been spared the duushy chest-thumpers that come out of the woodwork whenever "their" team wins. They'll be back, only this year they'll have different colored avatars (hopefully a lot of them will be black and orange).

He made some bad choices but that's part of the game. He does a good job. He needs a veteran bench coach to help him though

As a fan I'm not sure i care too much who the Yankee manager is. I think Girardi made some mistakes handling the pitching staff in the ALCS but I think that Cashman needs to go out and get better pitchers!
FYI: Derek Jeter next Yankee manager in about 5 years.

IMO, Girardi didn't rely enough on his stats.
If he had paid attention to how his guys were doing over the course of the year, by the time the playoffs came Jeter would NOT be his lead off guy. Cano would be his #3 and Swisher his #4.
You can't blow the #1, 3 and 4 batting order assignments as badly as he did and hope to win against teams with good pitching.
Girardi got away with the WRONG lineup during the regular season, but it was catching up with him by the end (as they fell to wild card). But, of course, he didn't get away with it in the playoffs. Hell, it took an injury to Tex before he finally moved Cano to #3 and by then it was too late. Cano should have been in the three hole by the all star break given how Tex performed.
Girardi and the Yankees were done in by their ICONS: Jeter, Tex and Arod - all with egos too big to move down in the batting order for the good of the team - so they stayed put and it cost the team - big time.
