Knicks can't swing Kobe deal

If the time comes, the Lakers will want to ship Kobe Bryant to the East, as they did with Shaq, but the Knicks don't have the goods to swing the deal. isiah Thomas has been thinking up ways to get Bryant, going back to the 2004 offseason, when he, Garden CEO Jim Dolan and a team of Garden executives flew out to the West Coast to court Bryant when he was a free agent. But all they could offer was the mid-level exception of $5 million per season, mere tip money for one of the NBA's highest-paid players.

The KNicks can get Kobe if we trade Marbury Curry and Balkman for a first pick or instead of Balkman trade Crawford. The knicks would have a line-up of Randolph, Lee, Richardson, Kobe, and have Collins or Nate play point. Lakers would have Marbury Crawford Walton Odom and Curry. Not even

ISIAH THOMAS IS A RACIST!!!! A RACIST, and somebody needs to call him out for it. NOT A REVERSE RACIST, just a plain old racist. he thinks its cool for a black man to call a black woman a B. but a white man cant do it. The second a white man does something racist, he has people calling for his job . Why shouldnt it be the same for the failure, ISIAH THOMAS. He obviously stated he has a different set of standards for black and white people. This is the Coach of NEW YORK, the melting pot city. Flip the script, put a White guy in Isiah's shoes, and let him make a comment like that. I doubt he would have his job when he left the court room

I just read that article. The Knicks definitely do not have the pieces. The Knicks players are only valued by Knick fans. GM's know that this roster isn't good enough and that's why despite all of Isiah's trades this team will still miss the playoffs, and is destined for another 30 something win season.

Also, Stophatinkobe, please do shut up. What the **** are you talking about?

October 14, 2007  12:21 PM ET

Reluctantly, I have to agree with STOPHATINKOBE. Isiah oozes of arrogance and the front he puts up so visible. He would like for you to think he's an intellectual and above street justice, but he's classless.

Just look at the way he refused to shake hands with the Bulls when they beat the Pistons in the playoffs. Classless.

Furthermore, he's lucky that his boss, Jim Dolan, has even less class than him. That's why he's still (as it says on my 2007-2008 tickets) THE ARCHITECT. I could build something with all the money he has to work with. He drafts well, that's it. Jefferies? James? Give me a break.

Finally, where is Al Sharpton in all this? He says he will protest on behalf of African-American females but does he?

October 14, 2007  12:37 PM ET

Umm, who the hell is going to accept Marbury in a trade when he's pretty much packed his bags for Europe?

October 14, 2007  02:16 PM ET

Yeah that guy is a crackpot J-Hov!!

October 14, 2007  02:30 PM ET

How about this trade?

Knicks get Kobe, 2nd Round Draft Selection

Lakers get Jerome James (up-and-coming big man), Allan Houston (lights out shooter), all Knicks 1st round picks for the next 357 years*, Spike Lee (proven veteran), Yinka Dare (can anybody say Showtime II in Lakerland?), and finally, Steve Francis's youth and playing ability, somewhere in a dumpster behind Madison Square Garden.

I used ESPN trade machine, and this trade worked, and I think it would be fair for both teams. Knicks get another star they can grind through their system and reduce to a broken wreck and Lakers get another quality big-man to complement future all-star Kwame Brown.

* When the Los Angeles Lakers have moved to Vancouver and became the Vancouver Polar Bears in 357 years, Phil Jackson will still be head coach.

October 14, 2007  05:47 PM ET

trade anyone on our roster except for David Lee and Mardy Collins
it can work if Isiah isn't a cheap little betchhh and s willing to give up some of the players

October 14, 2007  10:52 PM ET

Whats all this crap about a pick going along with Kobe, if Kobe is traded thats it nothing goes with him. You think Celtics gave alot for KG, wait until Kobe gets traded. It will take some young up and commers and quite a few draft picks.

October 14, 2007  11:09 PM ET

Kobe has a no trade clause

If he goes anywhere then that team will become a one-man team

Just like LA is.

October 14, 2007  11:30 PM ET

I thought this was a discussion about a trade. Where did the comments of Stophatinkobe come from.
Dude, if you want to post on this site, maybe you should read the paper first. Sharpton demanded an apology from Isiah 2 weeks ago.

October 15, 2007  09:07 AM ET

Did Sharpton get his apology, or Isiah's job? Well Hllwd? Standards are different. Point being:

IThomas has completely destroyed the Knicks oranization and is unfit to be an executive in any organization...Much less deserve the opportunity to coach a Superstar like Kobe!

October 15, 2007  09:24 AM ET

This short story alone shows why Isiah and Dolan have absolutely no business running a lemonade stand, much less an NBA team. How hard did Kobe laugh when Isiah offered him 5 million? He probably laughed so hard he pissed two pairs of pants. So Isiah and Dolan wasted probably a couple of days of work and a jet flight out to L.A. to basically get laughed at. Imagine all the other things they waste money on (besides terrible players) and you understand why the Knicks suck.

October 15, 2007  12:18 PM ET

I agree with you. If you look at some of my other posts, you'll see that I have "no love" for Isiah. And I also lost a lot of respect for David Stern. However Dolan is the owners' Son. He's not going anywhere.
The post was concerning a trade deal for Kobe when "Stophatin" goes completely off the subject and begins a rant about Isiah. Now we have "Larry" on Sharpton. As you can see the original point has been totally lost.

October 15, 2007  12:27 PM ET

Sharpton isn't in any position to demand Isiahs' job. He simply stated publicly that Isiah was wrong, and that Isiah owed black women an apology. What's wrong with that?

October 15, 2007  03:14 PM ET

Isaiah is not racist. We (black men) refer to some our women as****. Its sort of a pet name. If we called them honey and sweetie pie they'd look at us like we were crazy. What Zeke said was something white folks never could understand. We did not let y'all (white folks) in on ALL the secrets of our culture.

October 15, 2007  03:14 PM ET

Al Sharpton is not racist but an ambulance chasing closet ****

October 15, 2007  03:20 PM ET

LOL! CAMFlint. I actually agree with you on both comments.

October 15, 2007  04:56 PM ET

Hey Hllwd.

Well he did get DImus' job! Right or wrong? And what he said was despicable (in jest...but deplorable).
And Sharpton has a following and a radio show...I'd say he has the position, don't you?

The job security that IThomas has is amazing!

Notice CAMFlint's comments? HA!
