Former Minnesota and Oklahoma State men's basketball assistant Jimmy Williams, who plans to sue the University of Minnesota because he claims he had been hired by new Gophers coach Tubby Smith but subsequently was denied the job: "My hope is that Tubby, in the end, is going to tell the truth when confronted by the court. You saw what happened to (Olympic track gold-medal winner) Marion Jones when she didn't tell the truth."

I'm a little confused as to how Williams can put Marion Jones in that statement. And WHAT HAPPEND?? He's crying because he didn't get a job??!!!!!

I guess Tubby Smith must be on some horse steroids or hgh or the cream. Thats what makes him a pretty good coach. That is such a random statement. He must have something good on him or hes just really pissed and talking out of his mind

Okay Tubby, tell the truth. The guy didn't get hired because he's a cheat and a liar.

Good call Vocal Point. I just want to know why he would go from one of the greatest collage basketball programs ever to one of the worst???

freebird....at the ole school you gotta win championships but in Minn if you get to the sweet 16 you've have a successful year.

I hope Tubby Smith goes to court is scooped up by a giant hawk, thrown in a pit of lava, and then hired at Prarie View A&M as the towel boy coach that would be his punisshment for ruining UK basketball program. In short I HATE YOU TUBBY!!!!! I hope you like Minnesota cause Kentucky will never welcome you again.

I may have overracted lol

I guess the truth would be, Tubby promised him a job then changed his mind or was denied by the administration. Illegal to change your mind?
What the hell has Marion Jones got to do with? Might as well say, "Remember the ALAMO!!"

The Tubbster left Kentucky before they fired him! He has the ability to right that Minnisota ship and it will be exciting to see his brand of basketball and how they will compete in the Big-10...will be an interesting college basketball season...

U are so right TampaBay #1-Fan u did overacted, Tubby didn't ruin Kentucky program, he had a winning record each year that he were there, and if the point guard( durning Prince senior year) wouldn't have gotten hurt in the semi. Kentucky probably would have won the whole thing. I'm also a Kentucky fan !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy needs to shut up. It's not Tubby's fault the school's AD didnt agree with the hiring. You can't take someone to court over broken promises.

The issue is: Was Williams offered a job and if so because he subsequently quit his job at Ok State, where he did a fantastic job, then should he be compensated? Of course most employment laws should protect Williams in this case, but since I'm not an attorney I have no idea but if Tubby &/or Minny is going to have the rep of offering and then rescinding job offers then they are going to find it difficult in the future to get good assistant and head coaches. Thing of this man's family...he's without a salary.

I hope he is successful at getting a settlement if indeed he was dogged out by UM!
