Teams targeted for L.A. relocation

10:16 AM ET 10.24 | With several franchises struggling to draw fans and rumored to be on the move at some point, the next question would be which team would relocate to Los Angeles. The Jaguars have struggled in recent years to fill their stadium, though this season they have yet to have a game locally blacked out on television. The Vikings' lease in the Metrodome runs out after next season, and plans for a publicly funded stadium have not been approved. The Bills are so desperate to draw fans that they will play one "home" game a season through 2012 in Toronto. Two of the three teams in California could be targeted, but neither the Chargers nor the Raiders are for sale. San Diego plays in a 43-year-old stadium and also cannot get funding for a new facility. The Raiders will stay put as long as Davis owns the team.

Jaguars or Chargers are the most logical... I just wish this would happen already cause I'm tired of hearing about it every single year.

jaguars...hands down

As much as the NFL and CFL deny it, I see the Bills moving to Toronto in the next 5 years.

October 24, 2010  10:40 AM ET

I'm not sure the Canadians want the Bills but the NFL will have to change their name to the IFL.

Why are we dancing this dance again? LA has had two teams at different times, and both moved. It's a big media market, but there's more competition than any other market. If the team goes 10-6 and playoffs every year, then maybe LA'ers care. But if it's a losing team, forget it.

LA is a bandwagon market.

I don't know. The CFL is pretty popular. I don't see a lot of Torontoans switching their allegiance from the Argos to the Bills.

The Bills couldn't beat any CFL team.

The issue in LA is the same as every city. Their teams left because they wanted a better stadium deal. If you've ever had the displeasure of having to get to and sit through a game at the Coliseum, you would understand.

I don't understand why fans bash LA for this phenomenon, but not any other city. No one said Baltimore couldn't support a team because the Colts left. No one said Cleveland couldn't support a team because the Browns left. No one said St. Louis couldn't support a team because the Cardinals left. No one said Houston couldn't support a team because the Oilers left. No one said Oakland couldn't support a team because the Raiders left.

All of those cities have had teams leave, but currently support a team. LA is no different. The owners of the Rams and Raiders left for the exact same reasons. If a decent stadium is built in LA, a team will get support.

Los Angeles Jaguars sounds cool.

after la gets its relocated team do you feel san antonio would be next in line for another relocated team or even an an expansion team

October 24, 2010  11:54 AM ET

I'm with notenuftoys on this one. L.A. doesn't seem to care about football. The Colts left for a stadium, but not because there weren't fans in the seats. Browns? Same deal. Houston? Same deal. L.A. is different; the issue (at least for the LA Raiders) was attendance as much as a stadium.

October 24, 2010  11:55 AM ET

LA and Cal are broke. USC is the LA's Pro Team anyway. No NFL team can put 80k in the coliseum like USC does.

It's all about Luxury Suites. NFL shares everything except that.

no expansion even for the nfl perfectly aligned divisions and the recession - heck we may see the toronto raptors go away in a few years, of course that is an entertainment league not a sports league.

Why? North America is still North America and Canada falls in that category

New stadium deal is already in place and everyone is broke - the coliseum fills about 93k

No clue bud - the coliseum at the time fit 100k and had zero boxes that is the reason they left -

Agreed. I wouldn't even say it's about the luxury boxes in this case. I can't see how Los Angelenos would be that happy about a sub-par team re-locating to their city. After the initial fanfare dies down, if the team still sucks, why is anyone going to care? No one can sell the rights to that many luxury suites.
