Favre looking for exit strategy?

06:53 AM ET 10.25 | Brett Favre looked and sounded by late Sunday night as if he's done. It wasn't just his saltier and more peppery hair. It was his limping on a surgically repaired left ankle -- and what he said it prevented him from doing. "Who knows?" Favre said when asked if he'd be able to play next weekend. "Who knows, really? I hope I do." It was his admission that his ungrateful coach, the one who earned a contract extension because of Favre's remarkable play a season ago, was probably right about his too-risky play at Lambeau. It was his suggestion that if he can't play effectively on his banged up ankle, that he probably shouldn't play on it all. Favre needs an exit strategy. The league could help him. His injury could give him a more respectable excuse.

Favre has been ineffective because of injury plenty of times before and he still played. He wouldn't endanger his consecutive starting streak just for the good of the team, would he?

Get out now while the gettin's good!

If Jenn is still an option, I'd be looking for an entrance strategy.

October 25, 2010  07:21 AM ET

He doesn't need a strategy. I'd be happy if he'd just leave.

October 25, 2010  07:24 AM ET

with apologies to Tavaris Jackson...if Farve were to leave....then what?

October 25, 2010  07:27 AM ET

It was such an embarrassing performance that I actually felt sorry for him. But if he stops now the Vikings have very little in the way of back-up, and they only have themselves to blame for not planning better.

The Devil has WAY too many places to stop by in D.C. before he gets to Snyder's residence....

McNabb has a guardian angel though. The int to TD called back because of an offensive penalty. Yeah, someone is watching over him.

I didn't see that.... I only saw a delay of game, and a free snap. :)

The Vikes play in New England next week. Suspend Brett now. Watching Randy Moss deal with TJack would be priceless.

And the Pack plays the Jets. This would be a really good time to finally see the Packer team we all expected.
