Holyfield wants another title shot

07:44 AM ET 10.25 | There is no party planned for the 20th anniversary of Evander Holyfield's first heavyweight title (he would go on to lose and regain pieces of it four times). Just more conditioning to stay ready for another title shot that he's convinced is fated to happen. If anything, he is employing this anniversary to lend some sort of numerical symmetry to a quixotic belief. Making fights has become increasingly difficult. A planned match-up with 38-year-old Sherman "Tank" Williams (34-11-2) in Detroit for early November has been twice pushed back and remains in contractual limbo.

Evander was a great Heavyweight Champion. The sport has been missing someone of his caliber for quite sometime. However, he's way past his time. Evander would be just a shadow of his old self. I think he's setting himself up to be hurt.

I guess he's back on steroids.

Jeeze. This guy needs to stop. But in all honesty, he did beat Nikolai Valuev and should have gotten the title again in that fight. Of course, that's not really impressive at all.

Oh joy of joys...another geezer wants a shot at the title. C'mon Evander, you're 48 and have NO BUSINESS fighting for the title. What a freakin joke boxing has become.

A true case of one too many shots to the head. Someone in his inner circle needs to put an end to this, or he'll end up dead in the ring. Just a pity really!

A prizefighter never knows when to call it quits! He runs off of his past glory days.......Yeah, he might need the money also.....but most miss the SPOTLIGHT

You really think Holyfield was on the juice? I know boxing is corrupt and all, but he's one of the guys I like to think of as doing things the "right way". The guy did so much for the sport, yet he's broke and punch drunk.I agree with you guys that he may very well kill himself in the ring. Its a shame he doesn't have someone to tell him no, you can't do this. Knowing boxing, the promoters are lining up for the chance to make their final pennies off of Holyfield's name.

No wonder boxing is dying a slow agonizing death.

The divsion is in a poor state but not that bad The Klitschko's, Haye or Chisora would really hurt this man which is bad because in his prime not one of them would have beat him. Please hang up the gloves you are a legend tarnishing youre Legacy and possible long term health.

Too many shots to the head. He still thinks he's 30 years old and in reasonably good shape. But that's just not the case. Too old, too slow, you've retired. Enjoy your last few brain cells or become like Cassius.

His momma named him Clay, Im'ma call him Clay.
