This might not be a bad ride for Benson. He has experience in Toyota power, working with Toyota. He is a good driver that has enough experience to help the team improve and move forward.

this deal will be more beneficial for MWR than Benson. But if he wants to get back into Cup he will more than likely take it.

Benson has deserved another shot at Cup for a long time now. I think he just wanted a deal where he could be competitive and not just ride around.

Johnny Benson is a terrific Truck driver and a class act. I agree with Red Zone that Benson deserves another shot at a ride in the Cup Series. Actually MWR could alot worse in selecting another driver and Benson could do a great deal to better the image of MWR. Admittedly, I am highly critical of Michael Waltrip, but even I see tremedous gains by added Benson to Rueteman who is also an up and coming talented driver. But don't expect me to change my opinion of Waltrip anytime soon. I will note, however, that even Waltrip is making gains on the track and knocking off his horses*h*i*t antics.

johnny benson is a good driver... he drove for a few years in cup but never had the fire so to speak.... but he is hhell on wheels in a truck.. i think it would be good for mwr to have a seasoned vet like benson not sure how benson would fit in with that motley bunch over there ...

I was reading up on Benson's history, since I don't know that much about him and I don't follow the trucks.....he looks middle of the road to me, judging by his stats.....but Mikey must see something in him that is not obvious to me....more than anything Mikey wants to be a successful driver/owner and no way would he hire someone who would interfere with that goal, especially after a year like he has had....so maybe Benson will be a good choice....

pssst hammered.......Mikey fell alseep at the wheel when that happened, he was not drunk and he was not charged with any DUI....just thought I would mention that LOL

little E let me tell you a little somethi8ng stats arenot always the true measure of a man... benson is good very methodicial very attentionand detail oriented.. very good driver.. don't let the stats mislead you .... watch him then judge for yourself..

drflavio309....I only use the stats as a place to start.....as I said, there must be something good about him or else Mikey would not be letting him drive.......but you are right, I will watch him now and get a more accurate opinion...

Not a smart move. Benson has been in how many Cup rides and how many races did he win.......0. Stick with something your good at JB.....like racing a Truck.

trucks are merely a stepping stone.. to cup .. cup pays more and it is the top rung on the francedar ladder. if you don't like benson fine , but he i a good driver and has a lot to offer a team with his vast knowledge of setups.....
