Swisher on block, Werth in play for Yanks?

08:22 AM ET 10.26 | Coming off a winter he admitted wasn't great in terms of the moves he made, Brian Cashman will look to improve the roster, and speculation naturally turns to expensive additions such as Jayson Werth. Werth, 31, might come into play if the Yankees decide to trade Nick Swisher after his second consecutive below-average postseason. Werth would provide a right-handed power bat to a lineup that needs one. The downside is he's struck out 303 times in the last two seasons and his price tag will be high.

i wouldn't trade Swisher to make room to acquire Werth, Werth K's too much and Swisher is a good batter, takes pitches, good eye, etc. oh and everyone on the Yanks had a bad post season this year.

Perhaps Cashman should watch tape from Werth's postseason ... you want to talk about below-average???

Agreed that it wouldn't be wise to let go of Swish, especially for Werth. Although I also agree that NY needs to get some pitching (worst case scenario has Lee going someone other than NY, Pettitte retires, Vasquez goes to the NL, which leaves a rotation of CC, AJ, and Hughes, with who knows who filling the rest of the rotation), the Yanks need to make a run at Crawford ...

When the only guys on your roster with good stats in the postseason are Cano and Berkman (who is on his way back to the NL), things look bleak. Can the Yanks get that primadonna Burnett to let Posada call his games?! His ERA would drop a buck. I think age is catching up with the Yanks.

I don't think Posada could help with his location

Putting Werth, a guy with poor splits away from his small home park into a park with a spacious leftfield will likely be the next FA implosion

I hope he goes to the Yankees just so he will have to shave that crap off of his face

It's the pitching stupid. Keep repeating that until people get it. Lee makes total sense. Werth does not.

True. Maybe the Mets should try to sign him. It fits with their strategy of World Class Sucktitude.

It would be great if the FA market for Corner Outfielders imploded (again) and they both had to sign in late March for 1 year $3.5M.
