08:26 AM ET 10.26 | Tyler Bray is gaining attention as he takes more snaps. "You could see he's more focused, he was into it," [tailback Tauren] Poole said. "It seemed like he was ready to go. If it's his shot, I think he'll take full advantage of it." Bray received plenty of chances Monday to build off the repetitions he received Saturday against Alabama. While the rest of the team stretched and went through early practice drills, starter Matt Simms, with a bulky brace on his left knee, watched from the side as Bray ran drills with the first-team offense. Simms was noticeably limping at the end of practice and was not made available for interviews.

Tennessee is hurtin' for certain! Here are some quotes from Derek Dooley postgame. I know Saban has been criticized for comments, but can anyone remember someone using the Germans for an analogy when they are the "good guys"?

"Right now we're like the Germans in World War II. Here comes the boats, they're coming. You have the binoculars, and it's like, 'Oh, my God, the invasion is coming.' That's what they did, they were in the bunkers. It's coming, they call Rommel -- they can't find Rommel. (Pretending to speak into a radio.) 'What do we do? I'm not doing anything until I get orders.' (Pretends to look through binoculars.) 'Have you gotten Rommel yet?'
-- "All right, and the Americans were the exact opposite. We hit the beach, and we were on the wrong spot. 'What do we do? I don't know, but these guys are firing and we better hide over there and blow some stuff up to get up there.' They weren't looking for (help). That's where we've got to make that transition.
-- "I don't want the German people to get upset at me. I'm not attacking them, but that's what happened. You had one group, they weren't worried about what the plan was and orders and all that. When the war hits, things change. You've got to go. You had the other group, and they go, 'Wait a minute. They told us the invasion was way further north' where we had the empty tanks and we were hiding Patton out. 'We weren't ready for this, now what do we do?' 'We better wait until Rommel tells us what to do.'
-- "I hope I got my names right."

That quote will haunt him forever.

Bray is gonna be something special...next year. If he's not broken in half before then.

I can see what he was going for with that quote, but really? Is comparing anything to Nazis ever a good idea?

It is the PC world we live in. I don't think this is that big of a deal. It is not comparing a loss to 9/11.

The Vol O-Line is playing a whole lot better than they were even a few games ago, and should be better now that Jerquari Schofield will be back. (I don't know if Cody Pope will ever play again-- I think Dooley may be right that players need red meat to recover from stingers.)
Simms can manage the game pretty well, but Bray gives the Vols the best chance to win games. Sure, Bray will make mistakes, but so does Simms. I'll take the player with potential.

As a Vol fan, I will say that this season has only been slightly less excruciating than the Spanish Inquisition.

Man, references to physicists, and now Monty Python pictures? Y'all are making studying for this accounting test much less painful.

You mean that the Vols have a vegetarian center. What has the world come to?

Maybe your new coach is too smart, just making a bad analogy under stress, Kiffin does not even know what a nazi is or that Germany was involved in any wars.

Kiffin probably thinks the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor because he once watched Animal House.

However, Kiffin is married to Layla and has one of the best jobs in CFB.

No, they HAD a vegetarian center (although he said he eats fish sometimes, so technically he calls himself a "pescetarian"). However, Cody Pope was a starter for one game-- he got hurt with a shoulder stinger against UT-Martin and hasn't played since.

That is just wrong. Having a Veg punter or kicker OK, but an Offensive linemen. That is just wrong.

Well, in his defense, he was raised that way, and since he's been at UT, it gives him an excuse to spend a lot of time with the team nutritionist, Allison Maurer.

Allison Maurer.

"Oh it's so funny to be seeing you after so long, girl.
And with the way you look I understand
that you were not impressed.
But I heard you let that little friend of mine
take off your party dress.
I'm not going to get too sentimental
like those other sticker valentines,
'cause I don't know if you are loving some body.
I only know it isn't mine."

Agreed. Once Bray and his receivers get on the same page they're gonna be good. Looking at Bray, I can't for the life of me figure out where all that arm strength is coming from. The boy can zip the ball downfield.

How about a cookout at Coach Pearl's house? But don't tell anybody, got it?
