06:38 AM ET 10.15 | Lance Stephenson was among the recruits who attended Hoosier Madness at Indiana over the weekend and met with basketball coach Kelvin Sampson. "It blew me away," the Lincoln star said yesterday. "Everything seemed perfect." But just hours after Sampson left Indiana, his father, Lance Sr., learned Sampson had committed recruiting violations and the school had imposed sanctions yesterday. Sampson had participated in three-way phone calls with recruits while still on a year-long probation that ended in May. He and his staff broke NCAA phone rules while at Oklahoma, and one of the penalties levied was that Sampson had been prohibited from making any phone calls while on probation. As a result of the new violations, Indiana will lose a scholarship next year and Sampson will forfeit a scheduled $500,000 raise.
